I don’t use this as a smoker grill just steaks and bratwurst so far the grill uses much less charcoal than my old aussie grill. I get enough cooking area using just the left side is enough for two adults and one child. I think I could entertain 4 additional guests by using both grill surfaces, Easier to control air flow and heat which has improved result over past grills.

Ok just got the grill.hubby had it up and running in 45 minutes.i put 20 brickettes in the lil smoker box.5 in the grill.lit it and put on a split chicken .dampers half open.put some pecan wood chips in it.layed the chicken off to the side closed it.about 2 hour s had the best chicken u can eat.word to help.my hubby had problems with the main lid closing.had a gap. Eazy fix.he loosened the hinges a lil it closes tight now. Happy cooking.

You get what you pay for. I was very disappointed with this product as it is a name brand. After the first use, the whole bottom started to get heat warped and bubbling up! Then it started flaking and now rusting! I called the manufacturer and I argued with them for the longest. It was under warranty and instead of sending me a whole new one, they sent me every single piece but the legs. So, I had to take it all apart to put it all back together. They sent me a bent piece so I had to call them again and wait for that. Then again after the first use! Same issue! They then did not want to help me. They told they will send me some heat spray and I would have to sand the whole entire product and spray it all down. Why would I need to do that when I had it less than 6 months!

I have been buying Char-Broil grills since 2005. They are all I have owned since then, but this was the last straw. I am no barbecue expert, but I have done competitions, sponsored events and sporting events. I would say I am fairly decent at what I can do on a barbecue. With that said ignore the comments that say these rust and the paint peels. people need to learn to properly care for a barbecue. The thermometer comments are a joke too. The thermometer is for gauging temp. Do not take it as gospel. Learn to read the coals an use a meat thermometer. Your hand also does wonders for gauging temp. This thing is flimsy as they come. now Char-Broil has always used flimsy sheet metal and that doesn’t make a product bad, but the reinforcement points suck or are none existent. If you open the lid this thing kinks all over. If you move it by the handle you fear it falling apart. Just very poorly made. The next are the seals. The hinges are junk and bend. The right side of my lid when closed sits flush, but the left side has a fairly big gap. The smoke stack has a major gap and is kinked due to the fact it is only held by 2 screws diagonal of each other. All of these gaps will effect the inside temp. This is also the second one I received as the first one came with broken welds on the main barrel. Now if anyone says I just don’t know how to build anything I am a 16 year aircraft sheet metal mechanic writing a review on my wifes account. My last gripe is that all Char-Broil grilles used to come with cast iron grates. Everything is porcelain now. This was the first thing I noticed when I bought my 3rd grille. I am just very disappointed with Char-Broil. They were a great company about a decade ago and did make a great entry level product at a very reasonable price. I believe the owners have watched one to many episodes of shark tank and following that business plan have ruined this companies quality for mass production and profit only. This barbecue is good enough to get me though this summer season and I will use an inferior product to great effect, but this will be my last year with Char-Broil. About 13 years of customer loyalty has died. I will be switching to Oklahoma Joes.

I’ve never used a grill before so I’d definitely say this is a GREAT beginners grill/smoker. I put it together myself in about an hour, i also ran up to ace hardware grabbed some high heat silicone and sealed the smoker a littler better(i saw someone on yt do this figured I’d try it out) it works great! I’ve smoked a brisket at perfect temperature the whole way through I’ve grilled steaks chicken burgers all have come out so much better tasting then a cast iron on the oven!
i really like that i can play around with the smoker also my first 2 meats i tried smoking was a total fail but it’s all trail and error! Can’t wait to try and smoke some new things on here.

I like this grill. Assembly was fairly easy. The heating is pretty even but does seem to be hotter towards the front as most grills are. The picture shows the wheels on the front however after assembly they go on the back. I don’t think this was my fault because the sides only go on one way. This does cause the grill to lean forward a bit but no real problem. The grates clean up great with a metal brush not the nylon ones that they try to say is so much better.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. If and only if you plan on assembling correctly, and I mean, using high heat silicone on EVERY connecting part, and using a bbq gasket on ALL opening doors you have a heck of a smoker at almost no cost. If you don’t take the time and small Investment in doing it right, don’t waste your money.Perfect, of course not but I’ve done ribs, roasts, chicken, You name it, from 215 degrees all the way to a stable 350 degrees. If you know how to manage a fire this is a killer little grill for the price. The temp spikes fast and cools down faster, so don’t expect a set it and forget it grill, but a great way to learn fire management and how to smoke on a offset without investing to much.

I didn’t have any issues getting the grill together, no paint peeling or other issues other reviewers have reported but we haven’t had it very long. This grills and smokes fantastically. I’m a beginner smoker, even with some user error, I had a great smoked pork chop and corn. I also smoked a block of cream cheese no problem. Definitely worth the money.

Works well.First smoker and I have enjoyed cooking with this grill/smoker.Just like any grill you will have to learn how to control airflow and temp.This one requires that you do a clean out after every use. If not there just isn’t enough airflow to get a good temp. Not a big issue. Get a burn bucket and a scoop and you are set. A burn bucket is a metal bucket you can put hot coals in to and have zero worries that you are going to set the bucket on fire. DO NOT USE PLASTIC.Experiment. Have fun.There are so many different types of smoker pellets to choose from, endless flavor combos.

Best 75 bucks i ever spent. Had a much larger pit i stopped using 13 years ago because too much work. Ive done 4 slabs a few times. Sometimes finish in oven about 45 mins(325) with a couple teaspoons of water to steam and moisten depending on temp maintained. Pour off renderings and water. Sauce and about 20 more minutes in oven . Yummy yum yum. Also switched to electric starter in the firebox vs messy dangerous chimneys.LOVE IT. would buy again over and over.

As a Southern guy living in the city I started a trend of smoking meat in our community. Needed a small smoker so I choose this one because of the price.What I got was a mess in a box, chamber was bent parts were not fully done to spec and welds we’re loose. I noticed all this after I built it which wasn’t to hard to do. Contacted Char-Broil and they agreed to exchange the messed up parts.. Unfortunately I did not receive said parts before the 4th which is why there are 2 stars instead of 3.Char doesn’t have a bad idea with this small Smoker unfortunately it shoddy Made in China feel craftsmanahip is evident. With work this can be a beast of a tiny smoker. After I modded what I had I no longer want the replacement parts. I sealed every crevice with High temp silicone, drilled extra holes in the bottom for a drainage pan.I also stripped and repainted with Hugh temp paint because during seasoning the paint bubbled and burned off. I added HVAC aluminum piping to the stack and made a heat spreader of metal so there would be no cold spots. Used high temp foil tape to keep the smoke in around the lid.

I had a 4 burner BBQ that turned to rust and the burners were spread further apart than the 4 burners on is one. At first I thought this was not good but after using it, the closer set burners provide evener heat. The back is not enclosed and I cannot store anything edible (spices, etc) underneath because the mice can get in. The controls have more adjustment than my old one and it is easier to set the heat to what you desire. All in all a good value for the price.

Assembly instructions were pretty good – BUT some nuts on the side shelves were impossible to do without turning the whole grille upside down. Took about 6 hours over 2 days to finish.Once done, it’s great! Put tinfoil on top of the drip pan to avoid having to clean the pan every time you use it. Cooks perfect!

This little grill is a swiss army knife! You can smoke while you grill, grill while you smoke, or just use all sections as grills and get a little more cooking space than a Weber! Easy enough to assemble, and for some reason mine came with a replacement thermometer too (I don’t think that’s a standard feature)!

You get what you pay for. For $90 this is a good smoker. Add maybe $25 worth of modifications and you’d have yourself a beast. Thermometer sucks, gonna add a new one. Add on some high temperature silicone to the seams and temperature control should be a top notch.Smoked chicken wings last night. Fit 40 on the cooking surface no problem. Two racks of ribs or maybe even three whole chickens would be a breeze. Like I said, temp control was a little rough but all in all good grill for the price.

this unit is just the right size for a couple of people. i’m smoking a 16 inch beef rib chunk and a 5 pound prime rib roast right now and it fits like a glove. the offset chamber is just the right size for the chamber and the whole assembly can be placed in a closet sized cubby hole easily out of the way. above all, all the parts are easily accessed and with one filling from a Weber 7416 chimney starter, i’ve managed a 2 – 1/2 hour fire at 250 degrees…so easy stoking and easy temperature maintenance makes for fun on the cheap. the Amazon price is less than a good hibachi to boot, with far greater versatility.

My husband is a chef, and he absolutely loves this barbeque/smoker. He said that the smoker box is large enough to actually use pieces of wood instead of having to buy chips for it. Since we have some hickory branches, he has been using those when he smokes meats.The BBQ is large enough to smoke a small turkey, or a ham, pork butt, or a nice bunch of ribs. The heat can be regulated in the smoking box so that you can cook at about any temperature that you want.We got this smoker from Amazon and paid about half the price it was selling for in the stores; so we are also happy with the price savings.Edit to add: We have had this BBQ smoker for over two years now, still using it all summer, and it is still working fine. A great starter smoker for the money. I had used a Weber previously for indirect cooking/smoking but this has been an excellent addition for being a first-timer learning smoking techniques. Smoke is drawn very well over meat/poultry/fish. Fire box is adequate for smoking about 2hrs before needing replenishing. The smoker is also light and easy to store and maneuver.

Like other reviewers have noted, this is not a top of the line grill. However, you will not find anything better for the price!In order to maintain adequate heat, I purchased some thin ceramic grill plates (with holes drilled in them for ventilation) and placed them on top of the steel grate in the firebox. Then, I add a small amount of wood lump charcoal and heap wood pellets on top of that. I use a propane torch to get the fire started, and then it’s grilling time! Wood pellets are the least expensive and best way that I have found to keep the temperature up and create the smoky flavor I want.

This is something I expect to only last a few years at most with light use. With that being said its nice to have a grill that you assemble in under an hour that is easy to move around. Wanted a replacement for my char-broil tru infrared grill damaged in a storm last year. I wanted more stainless steel. The grill showed up damaged. I called the Char-broil 800 number and they helped registered the grill and shipped out replacement parts for the damage pieces right away. I plan on adding the tru-infrared plates next year.

I love this grill! All the negative reviews are complaints that its not large enough. I can easily cook 8+ burger patties on this at a time, or 2 racks of ribs, multiple steaks, whatever we need for 1-6 people. This thing is darn near a miniature version of what youll find in stores, stand about belly button height (im 5’10”) but its perfect for me.The paint did bubble off on the bottom side, but no one sees it except for me, because I bend over to clean up drippings, so I’m not concerned with it. I bought this grill, which was fairly easy to assemble… when I fired up the grill for the first time, the grill was not getting hot… it only got a little hot in the front section… middle and rear almost nothing. I called Amazon (who’s customer service was outstanding), who called along with me Charbroil, and after waiting and hour and ten minutes the representative tells the Amazon rep, sorry, can’t help you… your customer need to call direct. The Amazon rep requested to transfer me through… nope, he waited over an hour, can you at least call him? Nope…. Everything was nope as in no service. This grill may be good when and if it gets fixed, but this is the last Char Broil product I’llEver buy… that type of customer service is inexcusable.

I have had 3 Charbroil’s in the past. This one is replacing one I have had for 8 years. What caught my eye was the fact that the picture shows a totally Stainless Steel unit. When I say totally I mean even the outside lower part of the Firebox is completely stainless. Well guess what! Not the case when you get the unit! The lower part of the Firebox is the standard black. Everything else is stainless but very thin. Also although it’s a 4 burner somehow Charbroil has placed them so close in the Firebox that the unit is small. More like a 3 burner. It’s not all negative though. Once assembled it is very nice looking. Also I noticed that having the burners closer together it heats up quicker and cooks with less gas since you can turn it down while cooking. One thing I wanted to mention. Some other reviewers state that the temperature does not get passed 200-250. This is because they are not following starting procedures. When igniting, you need to make sure all the knobs are turned off before turning on the tank regulator! If not, you will set off the regulator protection valve and it will not allow the proper amount of gas to enter the unit. Thus it will not reach proper temperature. All in all. 9 out of 10 in my book.

A few years ago I bought a CharBroil grill, and about 2 years into it’s life flames started coming out around the temperature control knobs. Char Broil blamed me, so I went to another brand–that one lasted about 5 years and finally gave up the ghost. Against my better judgment I bought another Char Broil, and this time, one year and two days into it’s life, the exact same thing happened. This time the flames shot out with such force and temperature that it destroyed the temperature valve and knob. It was not possible to shut off that burner without shutting off gas to the grill. This is a death trap–buy at your own risk. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Product Safety Commission first thing in the morning.

I purchased this grill, for my father, pre-christmas for $56 dollars (American). Prior to this grill we own those small round ones sold at every Albertons and Ralphs. This is a mid to high tier Grill. Fits roughly Six 8oz Steaks on main grill and about 4 Tortillas on the side smoker. We have a Char-Broil infrared grill that we love. We’ve had no problems.The box came damaged and there were a couple small dent on the one side. This would not affect the cooking of the product, so we didn’t immediately send it back. After getting it built, which takes at least 2 hours +, I was already disappointed by how flimsy it was. We started the burners and saw flames come from inside the front part of the burners. We only lit 2 burners. Closed the lid and waited for it to heat up. It took very long for it to reach 250 degrees and it didn’t go much further than that. Lots of flare ups, and yes, the front portion was always showing flames when on. Char-Broil customer service was fine but they had us do a leak test. They said it was the regulator and they would send a new one, but it sounded like there were other problems with the unit too. We boxed it up and sent it back. Terrible workmanship and inferior material was used. We ended up purchasing a different grill from a store and picked it up. No dents or dings and it works wonderfully, Cuisinart 4 burner is a tank and cooks well.

I bought this grill to replace a 20 year old Weber. For the price this is a good option. The price of the Weber has gone up so much that I no longer felt it was an option. The grill is very attractive and fits nicely on my deck. I am still getting used to cooking with it and have yet to use the side burner. It takes a little longer to heat up than the Weber did and has a little less of a char taste but overall I am satisfied. It’s a little less sturdy than my old Weber but it seems like that is true for all appliances these days. I opted to have the assembly service which I feel was well worth it as the person who came out worked for about 2 hours to get it together.

This is great introductory smoker that works excellent. I have smoked a lot of ribs and loins with great success. I can leave this for hours and come back to perfectly smoked meats. This s not huge, but right size for family. Once you figure out the air flow settings which is about 1/4 and 1/4 travel you can regulate heat well.

I went with this smoker due to the other good reviews it received, It was a snap to assemble, although you will need 2 people to make it easier towards the end of the assembly. It was incredibly easy to “season” it for smoking, you do need to watch how much wood you put in the box as it is a small unit and the temperature can spike really quick. But once you learn how to control that, as well as the intake of air/outlet of air, it does indeed make AMAZING FOOD!!! I have had mine for almost 2 weeks as of this review, and I have smoked ribs, pork shoulder, steaks, and roasts, to mouth watering succulent perfection!!! I am experienced at smoking, so if you are not, start out with cheaper cuts of meat at first until you get a “feel” for the smoker. But this is an EXCELLENT little smoker, and well worth the money!!!

This was my third Char Glow barbeque grill and this was the most disappointing. It is very lightweight stainless steel compared to the last two. The rear fire tube is in the front of the burner section rather than the rear as located in the other units. This causes one to reach over flames to do any flipping of the item being cooked. This was the second unit I purchased from Amazon and It was not cheap. I will never buy another Char Glo since their quality has certainly gone down.

I received my smoker yesterday and couldn’t wait to put it together. I took some time, but I had no issues putting it together according to the instructions. I had no gaps whatsoever in between the top lid and bottom chamber, I just made sure when I tightened the hinge brackets I aligned them as close to the edges of the top lid and bottom chamber as possible. It seems pretty solid, not flimsy at all. It’s a perfect size for a family of 4 or less, unless you have NFL linebackers for kids. I fired it up last night after I got it all put together and smoked a chicken that I split into halves. For my first time ever using a charcoal / wood side chamber smoker, the chicken came out perfect and delicious! I also ordered the Weber “Rapidfire*” charcoal chimney starter to pre-light the coals. I bought B & B Texas style oak charcoal briquettes and Western brand Mesquite hardwood chunks at my local Academy sporting goods store for the cooking process . Everything worked like a charm! I even fell asleep on the couch and woke up to find that the coals and wood had all burned down to ash and the smoker was just barely warm, but the chicken still came out wonderful and yummy! I have nothing negative to say about this smoker, it worked great and no other product can compare to the quality of this smoker for the price of only $69 dollars and some change. Maybe an EL CHEAPO product that will rust out and fall apart in less than six months.

I bought this in August. My first attempt at smoking. I bought the HI-temp caulk and the gasket material to help make it airtight. I bought Meatheads science of smoking to understand HOW to smoke meat. Bought good digital thermometers.I have since smoked many cuts of beef, chicken, turkey breast and salmon. With the proper tools and good instruction I have become pretty good at it quickly. I have the advantage of being retired so I can devote all day to my effort when I cook, important because great patience is required in the slow cooking process.The size is perfect for the two of us. It will handle a 4-6lb beef roast, four chicken breasts, or a large salmon fillet very nicely. I smoked turkey breast, I think a whole turkey would be difficult to do.All in all pretty happy with it. I live in Michigan and yesterday smoked three slabs of beef ribs (three bones each). I was just under the edge my carport (metal roof and framing) and the high temperature for the day was 34 degrees. I covered the smoker with a welding blanket and was able to keep a consistent temperature of 225 to 230 degrees for 7 hours on about 1/3 of a bag of charcoal. They tasted great!.

It easily accommodated a good-sized pork shoulder and a whole chicken for smoking and could grill 10-12 burgers at a time. It was quite easy to put together, though it did take a little while. It went together much easier than one I paid a lot more for a few years ago. I will probably be able to smoke a whole brisket, a few racks of ribs or a couple of chickens. Only defect was one of the side screws that hold the main unit to the cart would not engage the threads (slightly off set). The other 3 worked fine and the whole unit still seemed solid and secure even with one screw missing so, not going to worry about it.All in all it took a few hours to assemble as I was in no hurry. Very satisfied with my purchase.

This grill LOOKS nice but it is downhill from there. It is flimsy and chintzy, but my biggest problem with this grill is no matter how long you try to preheat this thing, it never gets hot, takes forever to cook anything and I have yet to get a clearly defined grill mark on anything I grilled. Very disappointing. I had another Char Broil that we loved until a Nor’easter blew it off our deck and crashed it to smithereens. Replaced it with this one and it is completely different product. I say forget it unless you just want to look at it.

This is all stainless steel, which for me was very important (on my last grill, the stainless pieces were still intact as the rest of the grill completely fell apart). This grill “feels” a little flimsy – it isn’t but it feels like it is. It puts out plenty of heat, and cooks evenly with multiple burners. The back is open, which is both ugly and lessens the stability of the grill. But an all stainless grill at this price – I would buy it again. Overall, I’m satisfied.

This is really a great value. I use it as a charcoal grill mostly, but obviously it can be used as a smoker as well. My biggest bits of advice for making it last:-Put a cover on it. This isn’t particularly well made, and a bit of rain will accelerate its wear process.-Season it with oil regularly. This will help the metal parts resist corrosion.

The wind blew this grill over when the cover was on. It took a very hard landing. Stood it back up, put the grill pieces back in place and it works just fine. That says something about the durability I think. Ill give it 5 stars.

I read several reviews before purchasing this smoker and used them (both good and bad) to help make my decision.First off, delivery rocked. It arrived a day early and was in great shape.Assembly: I’m always leery when comes to things that I have to assemble. It’s not that I’m not capable of putting things together, it’s generally that the instructions are so bad that I end up pulling my hair out. Not in this case though. The instructions were easy to read and the parts were all packaged and labeled very nicely. The unit is fairly heavy, and while one person could do this, two people makes it a bit easier. All in all, it took about 30 minutes to assemble.Quality: Is this grill high end top quality? No,but considering it only cost me $69 dollars, it’s quality is definitely on par with what I paid and it’s pretty solid for being a low end smoker/grill.Performance: I’ve only cooked two things in it so far. A couple of rib eye steaks and some salmon. Both turned out awesome. Being a charcoal grill, getting the temperature and smoke levels where I want them will take some experimentation, but for my first few efforts I didn’t do half bad. It’s not near the nightmare that others make it out to be.Bottom Line: If you’re looking for something high end, spend some money and get something different. If you’re looking for a decent smoker/grill, the price/quality/value ratio of this one is hard to beat.

The pictures of the grill show that it utilizes 4 swivel casters. That is not the case. 2 casters are fixed and it’s the front 2 casters which makes it very hard to maneuver unless you have a wide open space. One of the reasons I bought it was because it showed 4 swivel casters. Buyer beware.

This is the perfect smoker for your porch or yard, it has a firebox but you can also put charcoal in the main smoker part either for extra heat or just to cook burgers and hotdogs, I used this smoker to smoke a ham for Easter and it was delicious. Not sure what everyone else is complaining about but I have had no trouble with this grill in the last month of having it. I have no doubt that it will rust eventually as it’s made of steel, not stainless steel or titanium. No signs of rust nor peeling paint yet, nor does it look like it will soon.I followed the instructions to season it, which I bet is important to do.I’ve cooked on it 4 times now for about 2-3 hours each time. About 30 items. In between I keep it under a cover you can find on Amazon for $30. Good investment in my opinion if you want to prolong the longevity, just like anything else, if you treat it well it’ll last.It’s not amazing quality, it appears to be made of formed sheet metal, BUT it does the job great! Sturdy once put together. I did have to get a replacement because some of it was damaged, but I swapped out the parts and it’s fine.Also not sure what people are saying about it smoking excessively. I would think that’s user error on how you’re grilling. Haven’t used it as a smoker yet.For under $80 I couldn’t have asked for a better and more spacious grill!

The Smoker is a perfect size to do a brisket, chicken and some sausage. I tried using a Brinkmann Electric Element and the smoker stays hot at just over 300 degrees. I’ll need to do bend the element to get a good fit, but it’s going to work!The next size up Char Broil Smoker would be perfect, but from a cost standpoint, this size make it all less than $100.00

It took me no time to assemble this smoker. It’s small, relatively light, but large enough to handle normal cooking for up to 8 hungry people. There are charcoal grates in both the firebox and under the main grates in the smoker body, so you can use it as a ‘normal’ grill if you need to. The only drawback I can find is that the firebox’s charcoal grate is a bit low for the use of a charcoal chimney, if you start your fires with a chimney that drops the coals out the bottom, rather than the invert-and-dump type. That’s a flaw in the design of the chimney, though.I don’t know yet how it will stand up to use or abuse. I expect it will perform admirably, given the solidity of its construction. The package was missing ONE flange nut, but I have tons of fasteners and other hardware on hand, so it was no great hardship (I could have assembled it using nothing but my own hardware, if the package had been missing entirely). One missing nut is typical, or even good, for items like this. I recommend the manufacturer start packing one or two extra nuts and bolts with each item they produce, though.I’m not a fan of using soup cans as grease catchers, and hate the hangers. I’m considering making a small shelf to go under the main smoker body, and placing an old bowl filled with sawdust under the grease hole, instead. Something else the manufacturer might consider.But for the price, this is an excellent smoker. You can’t normally find an offset smoker in the sub-$100 range that’s worth anything. Normally the metal is too thin, or they don’t have charcoal grates, or the legs wobble, or the design is garbage entirely. This isn’t the case here. It comes with charcoal grates across the entire unit, the cooking grates are cast iron coated in porcelain (fast heating, holds heat well, cleans easily with water and a brass brush), it has a sturdy shelf on the side, good handles, decent wheels, good dampers, solid hinges and a thermometer built into the main lid. Plus, it’s large enough to do 8-12 large burgers at once, multiple sausages, several ears of corn or 2-4 brisket (depending on the size of the cut). And if you’re thinking ‘burgers? it’s a smoker!’ then you’ve never had slow-smoked burgers before.

Unlike some reviews I saw, my grill came very well packaged using plastic sheet, bubble wrap, styrofoam and corrugated to protect all parts. Everything was in great shape. It did take several hours to assemble, but the instructions, though all graphic, were reasonable. I would not recommend trying to assemble this by the seat of the pants. It was a great project to keep me busy for a good part of the day. I also recommend using a ratcheting 90 degree screw driver (as in photo) to get at some hard to reach bolts.

Knowing this has wheels I put it together in the driveway. It went together fine but to roll it around back to the patio the gate and walk are 3′ wide. The design for the swivel wheels are two on the back not two to an end so it rolls smoothly only pushing at its full width which is to wide to roll through a narrow gate and walk. Side shelves don’t fold down and aren’t made to grab in lifting the grill on a slant to move it on the narrow. There is no back panel to add rigidity to the base so it has some shimmy as the doors also add no lateral strength. Must get a cover as the grill lid sits above not over lapping the base. Any rain water pours into the grill flooding the grease pan and then pouring down around the propane tank.

So I wasn’t so sure how his was going to work out after reading all of the reviews. However, I’ve decided that anyone writing a negative review really didn’t know what they were doing and didn’t properly care for the smoker as was instructed on the first page of the manual. It took me one short hour by myself to put together then I seasoned it by rubbing down with vegetable oil and lighting a hot fire inside for several hours. I simply couldn’t wait to get the smoker cooking, so when the seasoning process was completed, I cleaned out the ash and started the process over. I smoked my first brisket on it and it was absolute perfection! The smoker held the smoke well and had next to no leakage of heat or smoke. You simply cannot beat this entry-level smoker! I absolutely recommend this product without hesitation!

This is not a top of the line smoker. That said, for the price it is fantastic. I love this little thing. You will probably need to put a baffle or something between the fire box and the grate area to deflect direct heat from the fire. See “how to” videos online. Take the time and care to season it properly — don’t build a bonfire it.

We have had this smoker for one week and love it…..my husband smoked baby backs a beef brisket and I grilled chicken….I love the size I was grilling for two and used royal oak wood briquettes i used one side of the grill and during the grilling I moved the chicken to the area that did not have briquettes so did indirect heat to slow the cooking progress down……my husband taught me that method . Our smoker is also chipping paint but we will paint it with a high heat paint the type you would use for wood stoves…..so all that to say for the price it’s our favorite grill…taking the other three to the dump

And, I like it’s compact size, even though its a 4 burner. It lights flawlessly and cooks evenly.My only issue is that if I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t purchase a totally stainless grill. It looks great, but when its in the hot afternoon sun on my deck and I’m grilling, the surfaces are extremely hot to touch. Other than that, its a great grill !!

Put this grill together (which took some time) and could not believe the heating design. Gas bar runs horizontally and the flame is noticable…that is it! The grill does not heat up after that! It is absolutely useless! You could put the greasiest sausage or keilbasa in the non-flame area and the fatty food will not even turn a light brown – there is NO way to cook anything! The grease pan in the front is so close to the horizontal gas flame bar and the grill actually catches on fire! I tried calling Char-Broil (I bought at Home Depot and not here on Amazon (it was on sale for $199.00 at Home Depot) and ended up waiting for over a half hour and hung up – twice! I hate to take it on the chin but this grill if useless and a good lesson learned – stay clear from all Char-Broil products! Please do not believe these “great grill” ratings! This grill is far from that and total junk. Do yourself a favor and spend the money and buy a heavier grill designed to cook all throughout the grilling surface. This design is absurd and I feel foolish not seeing this before I purchased this piece of garbage. DO NOT BUY – IT IS JUNK AND IS A FIRE HAZARD! This is off to the scrap metal heap!

Great starter grill with some mods. Added some Sil-Bond RTV 6500 high temperature Silicon to seal up the smoke chamber and addedDozyAnt 2″ 550F(2 pack) BBQ Barbecue Temp Gauges. Since it is so small, the temperature can fluctuate so need to keep an eye throughout the cook. But overall great value for the price. Once you find out you like BBQ, you may upgrade over time.

Contrary to the description and the pictures, this thing has some non-stainless steel components, particularly the grease pan. And locating the castering wheels on the face make it very difficult to move in tight places. It would be better if the casters were located on one end or the other. Cooks well but is a bit flimsy. For instance, if it is not placed on a completely level surface, the unit warps and the top cover and the front doors don’t close properly. The temperature gauge is inaccurate so I bought a separate, electronic one. That said, it cooks evenly.

The carton has no signs of damage, so this may have occurred at factory as I noticed prior finger prints on this piece. Stainless collects finger prints like a magnet. I feel Somebody at factory knew about damage, but choose to ignore it. I have to now repair this cabinet somehow as I bought this for an event we’re hosting today.

I’ve always like Char-broil products and never had and problems. This little smoker arrived quickly and was easy to put together.The material is not super heavy duty, but it does the job. The hinges on the lid are light weight and not really designed to take a lot of abuse, but you shouldn’t be opening the smoker often. Regardless of what most say, it is well built for the price.The big sticker that is on the front is absolutely no issue. rather than trying to peel it off cold, light a fire and get it up to about 200F, then sticker will peal right off.The smoker does not leak as bad as some claim. Mine drew from the air inlet all the way to the stove pipe with no measurable leaks through the entire smoker.Once it’s seasoned it will tighten up. I will say that the welds are pretty lame, but should hold for the “life” of this unit. If I store it indoors and get 3 to 5 years out of it, I’ll be happy. Fairly ease to assemble. Lots of dents parts. Not a really good finish like Weber. Some poor welding. Side burner is a plus and only expensive models from Weber have it. Heats up pretty fast. Gets your barbecue done really quick. Nice cost-benefit.

This is a good, albeit kind of small, grill. If you’re good with building things from IKEA, you’ll be able to put this together. I’m a 59 year old woman and I had very little trouble. I did have to watch a YouTube video towards the end because the instructions weren’t clear on one piece. Other than that, if you have a few hours, some patience, and like to do puzzles (seriously, it takes that kind of thinking), then you’ll be happy with this purchase.

This was a selfish gift for the honey, and now he grills for me all the time. We love it. It’s just big enough to make food for up to 5 people. The prefect size to make ourselves food and leftovers. He loves that it has the attached smoker unlike our last grill. If we wanted to grill for a big party we would need a bigger one but this is perfect for family use and even when having a few friends over. Annoyingly this went down $30 since I bought it haha.

I read a lot of reviews before buying this smoker. Never smoked any foods in my life so I was a bit concerned about my ability etc. I watched a number of Youtube videos and digested a lot of useful information. I seasoned the inside with cooking oil and did a trial run. Biggest problem is keeping the fire box hot and regulating temperature based on such a small firebox. I also realized that you can’t expect this thing to hold up under really high temperatures. I did not let it get above 300 degrees. Also added the temperature gage at the cooking surface. Big difference in temperature at the cooking serface, typically 50 degrees or more lower than at the top where the Char-Broil gage is located. I made my one rub and cooked a 6 lb pork shoulder (cut in half). I again had issues keeping the fire box going. Used charcole and smaller cut wood from my wood pile. After four hours, I started having more issues keeping the fire box warm enough to maintain 220 degrees in the cooker. So, I ended up finishing the Butt on my gas grill bringing the meat to 180 degrees F. I combined local honey, garlic, teriyaki and white wine into a spray bottle spraying the Butt every half hour or so. I have to say that I surprised myself. It was the best I have ever eaten. My family flipped out about it. The outer area had created a delicious crust with intense flavor and a jerky like consistency while the meat just under the outer crust was moist and delicious. We all ate too much and nearly got sick. I can’t wait to cook more and likely I will get a more serious offset cooker. I plan to bring this one to my river house and like the simple fact that this is fairly light and easy to take with you. Just requires a little more attention during the cooking process. I purchased Strike a Fire on Amazon which helps get the chacole going and I’m going to keep a side charcole fire going to add warm Coles into the fire box along with wood chips etc. Looking for to experiementing more with this thing. By the way, the spray that I made was really good. Make sure you add wine as otherwise it is too salty from the teriyaki. I poured the marinade I made into a storage device with the left over meat. Yum!

The Char-Broil smoker/grille is perfect for my family. We do have another gas grill so it is also used when we have extra company. The grill is made of powder coated metal, plenty heavy gauge. Easy to assemble, and easy to manuver around once the grill is all together. I had a problem with the temp gauge, but they sent a replacement right away at no charge. Great customer service.

I have owned a previous version of this grill and had purchased this one to replace it. They made some changes that make it not as nice. That said, it is a decent grill. Not too hard to assemble.

I bought this for my husband for a Christmas gift. i was a little Iffy because i paid $71.00 for it. It is well worth the price. He lobes it so much and it is great quality. I reccommend this product to anyone who is interested in smoking.

It gets the job done I really love it! Its just the right size for a family of 3 but we can even use it when we have company over. Might need to retouch the paint after a while if you wish but if you don’t it won’t look bad it just gives it character.

Char-broil should be ashamed with this product. Mine arrived with a warped and damaged shell, making it so that smoke does not stay inside the smoker and just leaks out around the hinges.I ran a test by placing 5 chicken breast in a row across. They smoked for 2 hours. The first that was closest to the vent hole was 170 degrees, the 2nd was 120…down to the 5th which was a mere 104 degrees. It’s incredibly inconsistent heat to the point of not being able to actually cook anything. Glad I tested it with something recoverable like chicken and did not wasted a nice cut of meat. I’d suggest throwing in an extra $50 and switching to a more reliable brand.Also: I did reach out to Char-Broil for parts. Terrible service, inconsistent requests. Very disappointed. Customer lost for life.

This Char-Broil is made with very light weight materials, however, it does heat to about 650 degrees F. Most of the back of the Char-Broil is open, and along with the very thin material, I was surprised it would reach this temperature. However, it is a different story if a cold wind is blowing. We have used it multiple times a week over about three months and so far it is working fine for us.

Great little grill for the moment. Smoked ribs for 7 hours on the first cook. This is my second time purchasing this same model (previous one rusted out after many years of service). I was pleasantly surprised to find they’ve made some improvements over my old grill.
