This grill is amazing! I use it at least 3 times a week. Super easy to clean and has a lot of room for multiple foods. I love the side burner as well to use a pan outside while I’m cooking. I wish it came with hooks for the grilling utensils but that’s nothing a few magnetic hooks for grills can’t fix!I have had this grill for several months now and use it quite often and haven’t experienced any yellowing on the top like some people have said. Please keep in mind that my grill has a cover while I’m not using it’s under shade so I don’t know if that’s also a factor. I will post an update if Anything changes with pictures. If there’s no update then it’s still holding up strong!

Some gripes. Minor: The installation instructions are kind of hidden deep in the user manual and for some reason listed nearly last in the table of contents. And they ore of the variety “no words so everyone in any language is equally unable to decipher them.The grills, The actual grilling surfaces, are really narrow metal with far too much space for things to fall through, and don’t fit very well. So cleaning with a grill brush causes them to slide around, crashing loudly into the sides of the grill.Most annoying, and I don’t know why no one else seems to be mentioning this, is that there is a channel at the front of the burners running the width of the grill that carry’s the flame between the sets of burners. This is very poorly designed in that it actually directs the majority of the flame right to where your hand is when you use tongs or a spatula. Pretty much requires you to wear fire proof grill mits when using.

Over the years, it’s been hit or miss on grills, even the higher end brands. The old Char-Broil one at camp lasted for plus or minus 15 years and worked great the whole time. So we bought this new version for our home, and it also worked great. Then the old camp one died, so we bought this model again for there. We’ll stick with Char-Broil going forward.

Screws need to be screwed into places you can’t even reach with your hand, better yet with a screwdriver. Pieces of steel cut your hands while you screw bolts in place. Instructions are horridly complex. And maybe most annoying of all, some of the pieces really DID NOT need to be assembled by customers. They could have easily been sent to you already put together as they’re small and wouldn’t take up much space regardless.Maybe a fun thing for lego-loving adults, but if you just want to get it over with, be prepared to dedicate a good chunk of your day to laboring over this grill.

This is the 3rd grill I have have put together in my life and it took me (alone) 110 minutes. The directions were pretty straight forward except for piece M. I took a photo to help. It came with two small dents that I am certain came from how the box was left on its side at my door. I also put a dent in it during installation of the first 9 screws that were terrible to get in. There are 3 other screws that require a flexible or bent screw driver. Overall the assembly was fine.The grill itself is good and excellent for the price. It got to 550 within 10 minutes. I waited 11 minutes but the temp remained at 550. The grates are cast and the openings between are plenty big for drippings to go through. I do not like this better than my current grill, but my current grill cost at least $200 dollars more than this one. I also went to the local big box store to compare this with other Char-broil grills and found this Amazon version to be a great value with its side burner and cast grates.

(reads 650 even with the grill off.I have been grilling for over 30 years,The most important thing for a grill is the cooking:This grill does not get hot enough to truly sear meat. Reset the regulator over 6 times, but the grill will still not get hot enough to sear food.My last gas grill was a 3 burner Char-Broil that was fine for grilling. This grill just does not get as hot.Tried to contact customer service: chat unavailable; I have been on hold on the phone for over one hour!Update: June 20Finally, after over 6 hours waiting reached Customer support. They sent a new regulator : it worked for two days then failed again!!!! While it was working, the poor design of the grill became noticeable. The extender tube of the burners is located near the front of the grill. That means the heat and smoke are concentrated at the front where you cook instead of the back like other grills I have owned. Meanwhile, I still cant get the temperature past 450 degrees( not hot enough to sear burgers or steaks) ok for fish or slow cook. The problem may be the in-line regulator. I have read other people use the offset regulator with success. I will try that from another manufacturer

Buyer beware. BBQ worked well for 9 months and then the flame decreased significantly. Changed the propane tank even though it was full. Still a very small flame. Had my handyman look at it and appears there’s a defect in the propane line to the burners, or with the burners themselves. In any case, the BBQ doesn’t work and it cheaper to replace than to have fixed, although know one wants to replace a $300 BBQ after 9 mo of use. Bummer.

Such a pain in the butt to put together! Once its together its cool but I would of way rather bought this preassmbled for the exact same price at home depot. Package arrived a day early but box was beat up and literally soaking wet on one side and falling apart. (Hasnt rained here in weeks so we can leave the mystery liquid to our imaginations.) One corner of the hood is scratched with a minor dent as a result. All in all decent grill but save yourself the hassle and buy it assembled at home depot, lowes or wherever else.

My husband loves it. We weren’t sure about it because some of the reviews made it seem hard to put together, the ignitor stopped working and one person said, “not for indoor use” with a picture of their apartment on fire. First off, who the heck would think it’s okay to put a propane grill in their home?
When they say a grill is for indoor use, they mean like a garage with plenty of ventilation. 
As for the installation, it was very easy, and we assume the people who had trouble, just don’t have much experience. Last thing, the ignitor takes batteries. For those of yall who said it doesn’t work, do you know it takes batteries? 
Anyway, it’s a good grill for the price. So far so good.. It does what it was born to do. Have a great day!

This is a good product. This is the second one I purchased. The first one lasted 8 years. The assembly took 2 people 5 hours. You really need 2 patient people to get this together. II had one screw levt over because the instructions indicated 2 screws where there were 3 holes. The burner connecter click was tricky but there is a good youtube video for this (and the rest of the assembly.) The top for the side burner did not fit flush and leaves a shoddy appearance. I will look for a fire proof spacer to make this look better. We are pleased with the appearance and expect the cooking to go well.

I used this grill the first day after it was assembled and was happy with the results of grilling chicken thighs which was very tasty. The control of heat from preheating to cooking is very good. The tray to catch the Grease and drippings performed as it should. The entire grill was fairly easy to clean. The instructions for assembly need improvement as they are not clear in places. The design of where propane tank is mounted is completely unsatisfactory. It sits on a metal bar about 1.5 wide with notches in it. You are to place the notches in bottom of tank with notches in the bar together. Just how can an older person lift a full tank which weighs between 37 to 40 pounds into this awkward position? You have to be on your knees to lift tank off the floor of patio onto the bar and then maneuver it so the notches line up and the half circle bar at top lines up with top of propane tank to hold it in place. This is impossible! I’m trying to think of something to add to make this possible for a 78 year old.

The grill comes in a thousand little pieces. The instructions are mostly pretty clear, but since there’s no text or labeling of the pieces, they can be cryptic in a few places. If you ever had to assemble something like this, there’s always at least one point that you find that you used a wrong piece something and have to take it apart – this was no exception.So after spending a few hours putting the grill together, I got to one of the final steps of anchoring part of the regulator to the side grill, only to find that the piece was bent and not able to be attached. So no I spent $300 on a flimsy grill, and spent around 2 hours of my time to find that it’s defective. I have no idea what I’m going to do now.The grill itself looks cheap. Everything is thing and wobbly. There’s not even a proper place to put the propane tank. It’s just meant to balance on a rail with a wire to hook it into place.I’m really disappointed with this purchase. Even without the defective piece, this is not a $300 grill. Maybe $150 at best.

Every thing is fine and grill works well and as hoped for. the mounting screws for the two side shelves are switched. What is called for for the right works instead works only on the left and those called for on the left belong on the right. Once I figured that out I could finish the assembly using all of the pats and nuts and bolts and washers. Family happy with the indirect grilling of salmon filets.I like the steel grills better than the stainless on the unit I had worn out and was replacing.. I have been careful to follow suggested cleaning instructions using warm soapy water on a cool off unit and using only soft bristle brushes without metallic or brushes or harsh abrasive pads. Purchased this grill from Lowe’s in the summer of 1999. Didn’t even make it 6 months before problems arose. Wont stay Lit and when it is lit burners won’t raise. Flame stays the Same whether on high or low. Which is at the lowest setting. Which means won’t get hot enough to even cook meat.

I ended up having to use a drill bit and using my fingers to turn the screws in (not easy if you don’t have small hands…see attached pictures).Pros:Grill has no problem getting to the top of the 650 degree temperature gauge, and heat seems to be spread evenly.For the price, grill looks very sharp. Materials and construction seem higher grade than other grills in price range. Pretty good grill. No problems assembling. Couple issues with it though.First, when it comes originally, it’s a nice stainless steel finish. But after one or two uses, the top of the lid around the thermometer now looks heat-tempered (a brownish color). Not so pretty anymore.Second, the grills themselves don’t fit tightly enough. There is maybe a centimeter of play or a little less. So when you try to clean it with a stainless steel brush, the grills wriggle and bang around. Very noisy and annoying.Third, the grill is not exactly light-weight, but also not exactly medium-weight either. With a grill cover on it, it blew over during some gusty fall winds, onto our concrete patio. I just wonder if that might not have happened if it were made a little more sturdy / heavy. At least though, there doesn’t seem to be any physical damage at all to the grill from the fall. Probably can attribute that to the grill cover though, which prevented scratches on the handle, etc.Four, the left side burner lid doesn’t sit flush with the rest of the left table top. It actually rests on the burner wireframe that are supposed to hold up any pots or pans, instead of a dedicated lid stop.Five, the left and right side tables are made of stainless steel also, which I suppose looks well enough, but if you are putting things on it, I would expect it to get scratched up pretty easily. I have been gentle with it but already see a little rust forming in a semicircle pattern from what was probably a dish or something.Six, it did not come with any hooks on the sides to hang tongs, brushes, etc (which is NECESSARY because you don’t want to actually use the shelves because you’ll scratch them). So I had to buy after-market attachments from other vendors.

This is my 3rd Char-Boil grill and the first one that I have ordered off of amazon. The instructions were fairly easy to follow and only needed a phillips head screw driver. The only hard part of the assembly was the gas burner had three screws that you could only screw in at an odd angle. First off, I wasn’t aware grills can be shipped in boxes. I was wrong. The package arrived in one heavy box that is best maneuvered with two people or one strong person. Although the instructions state its best assembled with two people, I did it myself in a span of about 2.5 hours. The top part of the grill is pretty much one piece, so most of the assembly concerns the supporting base. I did everything per the manual, with the exception that I left one screw out because it was hard to screw in.The grill looks great and cooks great. I have a small family, so the cooking area is big enough, especially with the side burner. I would definitely recommend this trusted brand.

It’s heavy and built well. Like all my grills anymore there is more fire by the beginning of the tube. This makes the heat not even. The starter doesn’t always work. We’ve just had it a little over a week. I had a Blue Rhino grill. It was very cheap and the starter is still working. But the insides fell apart. Decent for the price, this model is apparently an amazon exclusive but replacement parts are easily available, hopefully will last longer than my charbroil advantage did. As I’ve found with almost all charbroil grills the front gets significantly hotter that the rear, the lid for the side burner doesn’t lay flat so it can be annoying to lay utensils on. I would look locally next time and find a better deal, but all in all it’s a decent gas grill.Also don’t ever bother with a side burner grill unless you’re using it at a camper/cabin. You’ll almost never use it.

I would have easily given this grill 5 stars. However, there was a large dent in the lid that I assume was there when it left the factory, as there was no corresponding damage to the box nor to the protective packaging inside (see pic). I had to pull off the inner heat shield and pop the dent out from the inside, which removed it all except for a small dimple – but still, very irritating to have to add that step to the assembly process. Aside from the dent, it was easy to assemble as far as gas grills go and the overall quality and functionality are excellent for the money.

The grates season nicely. The top rack goes up with the lid as opposed to being fixed. Makes it much easier to care for the food on the main grates.Cons…not very good construction. Other than the grates, the materials used are thin and somewhat flimsy. The main propane line is crimped. This is a huge issue for me. We have squirrels who eat everything around here. You cannot replace the hose without replacing the side burner assembly. I also have a separate tank storage unit that I can no longer use because I cannot get a longer hose without rigging up some sort of adapter system. I did not notice the bangs on the inside of the lid or bent thermostat probe until after using. This is NOT a shipping defect. Someone on the assembly line just threw it together most likely knowing it was not right.I don’t like reviews that contain shipping issues but because of the weight and size of this item I need to add them. No question that this was hit by a forklift, pallet jack, whatever, even though the carton is clearly marked not to use these in transport. Had some bent pieces which I bent back and everything was fine.Overall it does work adequately. The life span of my previous grills has been @8 years. I do not expect that this grill will last that long at all. In the end, this is a $150-200 grill, not a $300 grill.

This did not even last one summer before it began leaking. I found a gasket between the control valve and the propane supply was split in half. It looked like a manufacturing defect. I called Charbroil and they would not sell me a new one. They wanted me to buy a $45 assembly that included a pressure regulator, hose, and four new control valves. This should be a $1 replacement part. Ridiculous.

The first time it happened I was cooking three NY Strips. I went inside for a few minutes and came back out and there were flames coming out the back of the grill. The grease had caught on fire in the pan below the burners. I took care of it, cleaned it out, and then tried steaks again the next time. Same thing. I am not sure what the flaw is, but unless I am cooking something like skinless chicken breasts, the fat catches on fire in the pan below the burners and this is quite hazardous. And yes, the grease drain is working.Update: I tried a few more times with lower heat and keeping it as clean as possible and finally gave up. This thing catches grease and just keeps catching on fire burning up everything I cook. This grill is a very serious fire hazard and should be taken off the market.

This grill gets plenty hot to perfectly sear meat and other foods. We cooked some steaks at 450 and they came out perfect. It has a side burner that you can use to cook or heat items, or even if you want to keep your BBQ sauce warm. There is also a small rack inside where you could keep items warm. It is compact which I think is an advantage because it is better to keep the heat in, I had a bigger grill and that was a problem. The burners have a nice output and I hope it continues to work like that for many years. It is easy to clean too.It is a nice looking grill except that the gas canister is exposed, as well as the sides and back area, this could be a problem because the underside of the grill is exposed to the elements, you definitely need to invest in a cover to keep it in good condition. The grill is sturdy and solid, comes in a box and it is heavy, it comes disassembled. This by far was the hardest part, putting it together was time consuming and the instructions are good, but there were a few times were they were not clear and it took longer to figure out. There was a step we sort of guessed at and hope that we got it right. All the screws are included, you will need a screwdriver but nothing else, and make sure that you have enough room to set it up. The process is better if two people put it together.Overall this grill will get you BBQ’ing to your heart’s content and it is perfect for small gatherings or a family. Buy a cover for it and it should last a while.

After a few uses, the ignition broke last summer. My father in law used tin foil to grill fish and twisted the HECK out of the knobs so they were backwards. He single handed lay destroyed it. Lol The first burner just pours propane out and the next 3 burners are barely lit. It’s scary, this is gonna blow up in my face. I stopped using. Looked for replacement regulator parts, out of stock online. Called local grill repair, they said not worth it to repair. But when I contacted charbroil directly they had it covered under warranty and sent me all the parts for free! Very friendly excellent customer service! I’m really happy I can get the grill up and running again. Everything about this grill is beautiful. They’ve really upgraded most of it since my last charbroil 10years ago. Well made. The installation directions are vague in some instances and do not include any step by stepnarratives. The manufacturer provides poor support services and discourages trouble shooting calls. I waited on the phone twice for over 25 mins for help but never received a response. I really wish I didnt buy this grill. Every time it rains the grease trap fills up with water and over flows onto the deck or it spills when your tring to empty it. It has a lower amount of heat also. Dont burn food as much but when you want alot of heat, it’s never going to get there. It’s all stainless and looks good but the grease stains on the deck and the mess you have to empty aren’t worth it. I even bolted a sheet of metal across the back and the rain is still getting in. It’s like it is built to be covered always.

I am enjoying the grill and it was easy to assemble. My issue was i thought Amazon was always looking out for it’s customer’s for best deal and product. I was disappointed that the grill was on sale a week later at $50. less.

The material the grill is made of is thin. It does put out a lot of heat when cooking. So hot that the cover handle gets very hot, you need an oven glove to open the cover. From the reviews I read you needed a special Phillip’s wrench, but we were able to get it assembled with hex type tool bits and standard ratchet type screwdriver handle. Make sure you buy the grill cover if your grill is kept outside.

I’ve had this grill for about a year and I am super happy with it. There are a few quibbles – The top rack for indirect heating slips out really easy, if it was like a 1/4 of an inch longer it’d be great. The side burner only putting out 10,000 BTU isn’t a deal breaker but I wish it was higher. It’s easy to clean, holds a pretty steady temp, really no giant complaints. I think if I did it over I’d have gone for a slight upgrade and got the enclosed tank holder. For the money I think this is an excellent grill.

If you do decide to purchase this grill, make sure the igniter button is not broken before assembling everything else. It is one of the very last steps and as I went to install the button, I realized it was broken. The plastic is broke and the silicone/rubber was torn, it won’t even stay on the grill, I have to use a lighter to ignite my grill. Seeing as how the grill was basically fully assembled and I didn’t want to break it down for that, I contacted CharBroil directly. After a few emails they said they’d get me a new one once I send my address, but then they stopped responding. That was in February. The grill is great other than that, it is incredibly frustrating to have to remove a grill panel to light it with a lighter though :/.

It came with a too small regulator that did not allow a full flame on high. I took the regulator from the grill I was replacing to fix this one. It now works as it should. The hood is lower than the charbroil I replaced and stainless steel grates are not available on amazon. This has a slide out drip tray, if my old charbroil would have had this feature, I would still be using it with the available stainless grates.

My husband and I assembled this last weekend and it took a couple hours to do so. First let me say the grill works wonderfully so far, and I have no complaints as far as the grill working. As a matter fact I’ll go ahead and say that the grill works excellent. I like the features on the grill like the warming rack, the hot plate on the side, and especially all the room on the shelves to store salt and pepper condiments things like that.Here’s what I don’t like: THE LACKLUSTER INSTRUCTIONS. This isn’t my first rodeo at following instructions to put something together, and these instructions, while not the worst, were certainly not the best. There’s a couple items I would tweak if I were the designer writing instructions. Just trying to see some of the pictures was really tough at times, and I think if they either made the picture slightly larger, or added a few words next to the diagram, it could’ve saved my husband and I some time, and one mistake.Bottom line: Great grill, crap instructions

This was a great buy. It had no damage in shipping (to south florida).Assembly was not complicated, some of the parts are a bit heavy to maneuver for one person. The heat is nice. the ignition system has an open flame in the front connecting all burners, this will give your food a nice burn if you ain’t paying attention… and ofcourse towards the back the heat is less. But you get used to it and find the way.The side burner is a big plus! I mostly use it to darken some corn and tortillas for the wife.Structurally is a bit unstable when moving it around, but once in place, it feels like other grills I’ve had.I like the side access to the propane tank. My previous grill had it inside doors and it was a pita to bring it in/out.

Absolutely HATE the way the propane tank sits on this grill. Every time I move the grill I have to detach the tank so that it doesn’t damage the hose! There should have been a more secure way to keep the tank on it. The little curved bar only helps hold the tank while grill is stationary. The moment you tip the grill to move it, if the ground is not perfectly level the bar pops up and your tank will fall (hopefully not ripping the hose from the grill)…I would never buy one like this again!

I purchased this exact grill in 2019 and we used it constantly without any maintenence whatsoever. My husband doesn’t spend any time cleaning his grill so, therefore, after 3.5 years of weekly use, the burners got clogged and it only cooked on the front of the grill which ultimately melted the control buttons off. The reasonable price and it being a great grill, I reordered another one exactly like it…And probably will in another 3 years. Also, it comes almost completely assembled. All you have to put together is the legs. I would highly recommend this grill over and over.

Now into the review!First sunny day I cracked open the box and got to work. The first part of assembly confused me a bit, I had the front panel pieces backwards. After a few minutes of cursing at myself for being so block headed, it was easy sailing after that. I put the grill together by myself, so it is easy for one person to do this. I had been overdue for an upgrade. For a dude like me, this is a chunk of change to spend on a grill, but the walmart piece of junk I bought 2 years earlier had already mostly disintigrated, not to mention the other issues i had with it.I decided to go with a brand that doesn’t change their name every year, Char-Broil.I have not been disappointed.It’s smaller than most 4 burner gills i’ve seen but I like it that way.I can reproduce grilling results too. That tells me it heats evenly when the results are reproducable. I made a steak bobby flay style, and I can keep doing it every time.On my last grill, I could never get the results perfect. I always had to adjust placement and timing and it might work once but then it would change. Not so on this one.Pull your steaks out and let them get to room temp. Set the grill on high and let heat up.Drizzle the steak in olive oil, and grind some salt on it. Flip over and repeat and let set while grill heats up.When grill is ready, put on the steaks, shut the lid and wait for 5 minutes. Flip steaks over, shut the lid, wait 5 minutes. Pull the steaks off the grill and cover with in a tin foil “tent” and wait 5 more minutes.Perfect.

I have to say over all, I am pleased with this grill. I am charcoal fan and have cooked on some expensive gas grills as well. For the money you can’t go wrong. My goal was to get a grill that would allow me to grill veggies, chicken and steaks without a lot of fuss and this baby does the trick.Full disclosure, I am not super happy with the BTUs it kicks out. So don’t expect to make killer ribs or cook that 100.00 cowboy steak on it. It heats up to 550 easy, but looses a lot once you open the lid.For the quick, grilled veggies and chicken on a work night, perfection.Found it a little tricky to assemble. It’s not an IKEA piece. Took about an hour. No dings from shipping.I would purchase this again considering the cost value vs more expensive grills vs charcoal grills. So happy I can grill up food on a work night.

I purchased this grill for my rental property. It is difficult to put together because none of the parts are labeled. The instructions call for part #32 or part #33 but since none of the parts are labeled you have to grab random parts and try to match them to the photos. We did it but it was made all the more frustrating by this oversight. I gave this 4 stars because I have a Charbroil grill at my house and they are great but be aware that if you need parts to match the instructions in order to put things together, you will be frustrated with this product.The other problem with this particular grill is where the propane tank is stored. It sits precariously on one of the support bars between two of the legs and is supposed to clip onto a curved bar above it. It does not clip into the curved bar. This is very unsafe as the propane tank is not held up by anything else so it is essentially suspended in mid air and can easily fall, which it did onto my foot after we set it in its place. Really terrible design flaw.

I purchased this Grill in June of 2019. I use it year round and it is under a gazebo with a charbroil cover, when not in use. I turned it on the other day to warm it up. When I arrived to start cooking all the knobs had melted off…I was lucky it didn’t start a fire. Flame tubes work well. The upper rack actually works great on this grill. We cook hot dogs on it with hamburgers on the bottom. Both cook in the same time. Side burner holds a gallon pot with no problem.

Three years ago I purchased a Char-broil four-burner plus side burner electric ignition propane grill. I was thrilled to save $300 compared with American brands. The assembly was challenging and took me 3 or 4 hours, but I got it done, All the grill’s features worked fine.Except one. It really did not have a design that allowed the ash pan to be cleaned out. The ash pan was riveted in place below the firebox’s bottom and could not be cleaned efficiently or effectively. The cheap metal was completely rotted out in three years despite painstaking partial cleaning. The ash pan could only be replaced by replacing the whole firebox – $50 and three or four hours to accomplish – and then you’d have an equally unclean able but new flimsy ash pan. So now I can either throw out this gleaming phony bargain or modify it with drill, shears, and saw over a period of ? hours. Caveat emptor, double time.

Love this barbecue grill, especially since it WAS shippable to me in Japan; others such as Weber, did not deliver to Japan. I see where people received this product with pieces bent/missing, etc. Every piece was intact, with nothing missing. It took me just under 3 hours to assemble, but the first 45 minutes were spent on Step No.1, assembling the front panel. The holes are such that you cannot use an electric drill, so I spent 45 minutes trying to get the screws through the holes to secure the panels. Finally figured out the secret; start by pre-screwing the screws into each panel’s holes before you try to connect the panels together. This proved to be the ticket with all the remaining screw holes in the unit, saving lots of time in its assembly. So, when all is said & done, normal assembly should be around a couple of hours. We grilled the entire summer last year, and it is a first class barbecue grill, cooking our meat, vegetables, soups (on the remote burner) just the way we want them. Can’t beat the quality for the price, so I recommend this to someone wanting a nice barbecue grill.

I got this grill to replace the charcoal grill on a new deck because the old grill was leaving a mess and I wanted something easy to keep clean on the inside. This grill has exceeded my expectations on quality, met my expectations on installation. I have a lot of tools fortunately and I keep the little odd tools you get from assembling other items. I never would have been able to put in one of the screws in particular without a small philips 90° angle screw driver… so random but no way you do it without bending the metal if you don’t have something like that laying around. In the end though, to echo most of the reviews, yeah it was difficult, give yourself a couple hours.In colder temperatures I was worried that I may not be able to keep the grill hot enough to adequately cook steak but I was able to cook them in mid-40’s weather no problem at the front portion of the grill. Any colder and I’d go back to the charcoal if I absolutely had to grill.Additionally, the first one was lost in transit and Amazon contacted me to have a second one shipped, I was fine waiting, was in no rush but they were very helpful and sent one without needing me to even log in.Definitely register the grill with Charbroil as soon as you get it, they have excellent customer service as well. I had one item damaged in transit and they sent a replacement part right away. This grill doesn’t seem heavy compared to other grills, but I would guess a very high percentage of these get damaged in transit anyway.

Putting the grill together was a little complicated but my boyfriend and I made it work without killing each other in the process. I only request two things to make this grill truly amazing…a gauge that tells you where you are on your LP tank fuel and that the grates sit a little more snugly. When you are cleaning them before cooking, they bang back and forth. Otherwise we have used this grill a LOT since purchase and hope it lasts!

I did not even realize until the end of the assembly process, when I unwrapped and slid in the grates, that the grill area had been reduced.The grill area in the old Char-Broil, over the 4 burners, was approximately 17 inches deep by 27 inches long, or about 459 square inches. This new “4 burner” is about 18 inches deep by 21.5 inches long, or about 387 square inches.Mathematically, the new model is 84.3% of the old model in size, close to saying that the grill area is reduced by over 1/6 of the older size.Now, for my wife and I, this alone would be ok had I known about it and had decided to accept it beforehand. The problem will arise on those occasions when we entertain family and friends and use the grill. It will not be enough space to cook every thing at once as we had with the older “4 burner” model, when space was already at a premium. That bit of reduction will make a difference to us, and I have to work this out. Procrastinating, I guess I am.I decided to keep the grill anyway. Aside from not being able to image what I would have to do to return it, needing the grill that very evening, and after suffering through the assembly process on a very hot and humid day, seasoned with a large thunderstorm, I still liked the clean-out feature on this newer, even if smaller model.But I am disappointed with the size reduction in the grilling area. I went back to the Amazon page with the grill, and did find, now, after scrolling down far enough, that Char-Broil states: “The primary cooking surface measures 23-inches wide by 18.5-inches deep.” I’m not sure what they are measuring as the 23 inches includes the side frame around the grill, and the 18.5 is just not realistic – I don’t cook on the frames. But then, that’s not the main point here.So I had assumed that replacing the same brand grill with another “4 burner” surface was enough to let me believe that the grill area would be the same. I was wrong. Just be careful when you order. Perhaps the industry has redefined burner area? Downsizing exists even with grills.

The Charbroil model I ordered, which is apparently an Amazon exclusive, perfectly fit my needs on paper. I was upgrading(?) from an old Ducane 3 burner that had just basically rusted out, and couldn’t be salvaged.When I first received the grill, it arrived in a large box, which was partially open.I put it on my hand truck, wheeled it to the backyard, and unfortunately had to wait a few days before digging in to build it.Upon unboxing the product, I didn’t notice anything wrong, and was excited to get started on the project.After opening the manual, and getting to step 1, I realized the one of the MAJOR pieces (the left support frame) had been bent during shipping, and there was no possible way to continue assembly. Very disappointing. I called Charbroil, and left a message for their customer service (of course, it was after hours) and expected more frustration to come.Surprisingly to me, they called the next day, and we worked out to register the product, and send me a replacement part.Great – more waiting. It arrived 3 business days later, and was the correct part.I finally got some time to assemble this thing and I have 2 first impressions versus the Ducane it is replacing:The firebox and shelves are WAY more flimsy, using a thinner gauge steel by a fairly wide variance. To the point where I would say that the shelves, if they were holding your utensils, probably couldn’t handle much more weight. The instructions say “do not use more than 10lbs on this shelf” so, your mileage may vary. I am used to some pretty sturdy shelves, so this was disappointing.The firebox, I finally discovered, is also bent. Probably from shipping. In fact, the torsion on the stainless steel is preventing the grill from closing flush with the base.Is that driving me nuts? Yes…yes it is.Does Charbroil need to improve its packing to prevent this? Yes it does.Would I pay a little more for a unit that had some better designed shelves? Probably.The saving grace is that it heats up well, the grate is excellent so far, and food cooks evenly.So, I give it an overall 4 stars. It feels like for the money spent, I am getting decent value. If this is all your budget can handle, go for it.Again, i would have liked the components to be slightly sturdier, but at the price point, I like it. Just dont love it.Good luck.

When I first read that this was a four-burner, I thought the firebox would be longer. This only matters if you’re going to use this grill as a makeshift smoker occasionally — you want some distance between a single lit burner on one end and the other end where you put your meat. This is so your meat cooks “low and slow,” as they say. The firebox is not actually that long, though — I’ll still be able to use it for smoking, but if I did more of that I’d want a longer firebox. That said, for grilling, which is what I do most of the time (and where you want everything cooking nearby so you can manage multiple items), the size of this firebox is ideal.The grill is materially OK for the price. It’s not Weber-level solid, but it’s a lot better than cheaper models. I’ve had a Char-Broil like this before and it actually lasted for about six years, which is pretty good nowadays. Just don’t leave it uncovered when not using and don’t knock it around a lot and you’ll be fine. The assembly is a pain, but do-able. The instructions had a couple of steps where I had to look up additional info online because they weren’t written/pictured well. (Most of the instructions are devoid of language, and just use pictures, which isn’t great if you run across a picture that is kind of small and a bit confusing.)Now for the important part — the cooking and grilling. This grill does a great job. The heat gets up over 500 degrees and the grills themselves are solid and impart the heat evenly. There’s enough room to cook a lot of things, and a lot of different things, all at the same time. So it’s perfect if you like to do a lot of cookouts. I haven’t used the side burner yet, but it works fine. It would be very nice to have if you make your own sauce — you can do it while you’re grilling your meat and vegetables.Overall, this is pretty good grill for the price. If you can get it on sale, when it’s maybe fifty to a hundred bucks cheaper, then it becomes a REALLY good grill. By the way, if you mostly are going to grill a few hamburgers and sausages at a time, and only occasionally, there are generic gas grills at the Big Box stores that work just as well for that. Those grills won’t last as long as one like this, but for grilling basics they work OK and are about a third of the price. Just letting you know.

This grill doesn’t get hot enough to sear meat. On the other hand, the side burner is like a blow torch. If you want to cook a steak or you like your burgers seared, this is not your grill. The flame on the grill is too weak to really cook so you have to close the lid and let it bake for about 15 minutes to even get a medium rare steak. You may as well put your steak in the oven because that is how this grill cooks. I don’t know how other people grill but for me the side burner is for simmering beans or chili. This side burner cannot be turned down enough to simmer anything. If you put anything on the side burner besides a pot of water, in 5 minutes it will be burning. I don’t know – this thing gets so many rave reviews so I guess I’m unique in how I like my meat cooked.

This is my 3rd gas grill (also have a charcoal kettle and have had many charcoal grills, smokers, etc.) and this is the best one so far. To me the biggest issue is ‘even heat’ across the surface and this one is very even. My last grill had one super hot area, a couple just hot, and a couple cooler areas. Was a pain, you had to stand there switching positions of the food so none got over cooked too fast. This grill doesn’t have that issue. I also use a pellet smoker tube with it and the food comes out amazing. Very pleased with this purchase.

My wife and I have been married almost 30 years and this is our third grill. All have been CharBroil. The reason we had to purchase a new one was a wind storm caught our grill cover and knocked over the last CharBroil 2-burner we had destroying the lid hinges. We continued to use it but enough was enough, The old grill was retired after much searching, we found this grill on Amazon at a really great price. The stainless was a bonus as we had been looking at the traditional black and for the price we purchased this one. I have read reviews and articles that deem CharBroil as a lower end budget grill but as I can attest, at an average of 15 years per grill, they are also very durable. I will continue to buy CharBroil as long as they are sold.Now as to features, stainless steel with stainless burners and venturi tubes, tool free grease tray removal, nice wide porcelain grates, porcelain firebox, integrated lid thermometer, and separate side burner (which I do not use) that seems to be popular with grills, and opposite side prep tray. I was really surprised that an empty propane tank was not included as my last two grills had. I have the tank from the last grill for exchange so it’s ok.The only problem I have with this grill is the assembly. The instructions included a part numbering system but the actual parts had no numbers on them. I viewed each assembly step and matched up the parts from numerous boxes to match and was able to complete the task.

Will not buy another CharBroil grill. Purchased one in 2018 and it worked great at first. In a little over a year one of the knobs quit working correctly so we no longer used that burner. Fast forward to 2021 and all the knobs are not working correctly and it needs a regulator. Only the burner is warranted for 5 years. Everything else is 1 to 2 years because I’m sure they know the other parts want last much past that. We were told we can purchase new knobs and a new regulator, but by the time we do that and hire a repair person, we might as well buy a new grill. I expected it to last for at least 5 years. The next grill we purchase will definitely not be a CharBroil.

Not sure where all the comments are coming from about the grill not being able to heat up…it takes me 10-15 minutes to get up to 600+ degrees. The only negative I can think of about this grill is that it’s a bit difficult to assemble, especially when connecting the gas line to the side burner…had to use a YouTube video to help me out as the instructions weren’t clear when it came to securing the clip. Like all gas grills that I’ve owned, this one requires assembly. I’m reasonably handy with tools and spent about two hours following the 49 pages of detailed assembly instructions to get this one put together. Perhaps someone younger than I am could assemble this grill faster, but I believe that two hours is a reasonable time to set aside. I liked the way the small parts were clearly labeled in a blister pack. Each section of the blister pack could be opened individually with my thumbnail which gave me easy access to the parts I needed without mixing them up with the parts that I did not need.The gleaming stainless is attractive but, like all stainless, shows fingerprints. When I connected an LP gas tank and fired up this grill, I found that setting all four burners on high could bring the temperature on the cover thermometer to 450 degrees Fahrenheit in five minutes and to 550 degrees Fahrenheit in ten minutes. That’s plenty of cooking power to sear and cook steaks, chops, ribs, chicken and burgers. For most of my cooking projects, unless I’m feeding a large crowd, I can manage quite well using just two of this grill’s burners. My most recent cooking experience using just two of the burners was grilling three t-bone steaks and two veggie burger patties. All were quickly cooked to perfection while I used the upper shelf to warm the burger buns. This grill’s heavy metal grates clean up easily with a grill brush. A small plastic, easy-to-empty bottom drawer catches the cooking grease and keeps it off of my patio. A wire rack assembly under the grill provides a place to store a standard 20 lb LP gas tank, so can be conveniently rolled around with the wheeled grill. The side burner on this grill performs similarly to one of the burners on the LP gas range in my kitchen. I have no complaints about the side burner, which performs well.Unlike most grills that use a piezoelectric clicker to create a spark to light the burners, this one uses an electronic ignition powered by a single included AAA cell which is easy to install and replace. Though this grill’s electronic ignition works well for me, it’ll be interesting to see how well it holds up over the years when exposed to outdoor elements. The manufacturer recommends using a cover, which I bought.When writing a review for this grill, I would be remiss if I did not discuss its value. Therefore I visited several big-box building supply stores to compare the prices of what they offered. I found a black, less attractive but otherwise identical, version of this grill for $169 and four-burner Char-Broil grills with more robust designs priced between $319 and $329. It is my humble opinion, therefore, that when this grill is “sale priced” at $199 it’s a bargain, but at regular price of $299.99, not so much.

I replaced an old Char Broil grill with this one and I have been absolutely blown away on how well this barbecues steaks and chicken. I only have to turn my steaks once and get a great medium rare steak. The burners are low enough that even the fatty foods do not burn. The grates are very strong and easy to clean. The ability to pull out the cleaning tray for easy discard of waste is the real asset of this grill. I wish I could have had this grill when I was entertaining more as this is the grill for that very event. Thanks so much for a great grill! I’m thoroughly happy with this grill. I probably use this BBQ at least twice a week. I think the only issue I had was in assembly as it was only provided by pictures only. I’m not a great fix it kind of guy so assembly took a little longer as I had to figure things out on my own. I purchased this grill for my parents this past Christmas season because my mom had mentioned that were in the market to get a new one. It was fantastic that I was able to make payments on it since, at the time of needing to get it to my house in time for Christmas I didn’t have $250 to drop onto a grill.
