Great little smoker…lid needed adjusting
Mqbrewer –
It came and was surprisingly smaller than expected..some parts not machine calibrated which made screwing parts together really hard for not lining up correctly..seems thin and not too many years of service assured…will be trying it soon and give better more specific review..

It’s ok expected it be bigger

Todo es perfecto. Ecepto el termómetro que nunca funcionó, y falta hermetismo en la cámara principal. Sabor exquisito buena cocción inclusive con poco condimento el olor a ahumado del carbón hace un deleite de la carne
Andy Schultz –
Paint peeled off the first time that I used it.
Rob Doe –
It’s very shallow as far as bbq for the distance between the coals and the cooking grill, and there is no adjustment to raise the grill. Also after only a few uses the side vent on the small smoker is stuck wide open, and that part was factory installed. Also when you use the smoker the smoke rolls out of the main lid quite a bit, so the lid is either to lite or there is just poor workmanship. Finally the photos make it look larger than what you get as far as my expectations were.
Sonny G. –
Just put it together today it’s a heavier gauge steel than I expected easy to put together it’s sheet metal so some tapping in certain spots with a flat hammer sealed the lids up tight. The smoke stack sealed up tight as well I seasoned it as recommended refired it and cooked a few good quality steaks on it works great.

My husband likes this for a small smoker. Value was great and good quality.
DAWN GREENFIELD –
This was a Christmas present for my son, I had this early. put this into my garage, when Christmas came around he could not think what was in the box. When he had opened the box, he was ever so excited.!! that very day his father and him had put the grill together and by the week-end he had used his new grill.!! It’s the best present my husband and i gave him.Now he smokes, and grills every week-end, oh yeah, no body can touch ” his grill.” !!! Thank-You so much for making my Christmas happier, by making my son’s Christmas a very special one.!!
Jimmy –
Smoker, does as it was designed to do, smokes meat
Andre S. –
It was easy to assemble, however the material is a little thin
Ashlee Roae –
Awesome grill! Perfect size and great taste. Best Christmas present this far!

Sweet love it

Excellent purchase!!
John Sullivan –
Great backyard smoker. Only complaint would be it came damaged but needed it for the weekend and no time to return it.
Gail Cooper –
Verdict still out!!! We initially tried out the smoker this past weekend. But the inside paint/enamel peeled off and damaged meat. We scraped the rest off and will try it again soon. Disappointed
Chris –
Will work fine for one season. Although I never seen anything rust so fast! Has to be a world record.
Denece Sprague –
love it
Saundra Cottrell –
Smaller than I had anticipated. It seems to do the job okay… Not sure how long it will last.
Keith –
This pit works great. I put some mesquite in the fire box and noticed the paint bubbling up from the heat, but it did not peel off. Smoked some ribs to perfection.

I have been using this product for more than two weeks now. In that time, I’ve had an opportunity to evaluate both the quality of the product and the overall usability. In creating this review I’ve considered both the type of material used in making the product as well as the overall fit and finish. I’ve also considered how well the product meets my needs and whether there are any shortcomings or particular advantages in using this product. For this particular product, the type of material used in the manufacture and creation of the product seems to be of very good quality. One must consider that for any product of this type there is a balance between the type of material used and the cost that is to be passed on to the consumer. I think for this product that balance has been met fairly well and I believe that the product will meet the expectations of most buyers. With regard to the fit and finish of this particular product, I believe it to be about average for the products of similar make or style. That is to say that it is not of poor or moderate craftsmanship/finish nor is it something that I would rate as outstanding. The quality of the piece is such that I feel it is a good value for the money. Finally, as with many products of this type, the value that a consumer sees is dependent on the expectation. When I ordered this product my expectations were moderate, especially because of the price. In an age where we demand low price but often want high quality, it is often best if we expect moderate to good quality instead. I did that with this product as was pleasantly surprised to find that the quality was at least good, if not just a tad bit better than good. For that reason, and those set out above, I’d make a recommendation to buy this product.

Great little grill for the moment. Smoked ribs for 7 hours on the first cook. This is my second time purchasing this same model (previous one rusted out after many years of service). I was pleasantly surprised to find they’ve made some improvements over my old grill.

Works great for first timers. Keeps temp. You get what you pay for.

Gift for my husband. We had not had a grill in years but after watching a number of BBQ shows, he was starting to look at smokers. I found this one and we decided to ‘start small’ to see if he really wanted to smoke and grill more than once a year! There’s a brisket out there as we speak! Bought a reversible cast iron griddle on Amazon that fits perfectly for cooking filet mignon or any steak. Great little ‘starter smoker’ and we really are enjoying it a lot.
rlovelace –
I read a lot of reviews before buying this smoker. Never smoked any foods in my life so I was a bit concerned about my ability etc. I watched a number of Youtube videos and digested a lot of useful information. I seasoned the inside with cooking oil and did a trial run. Biggest problem is keeping the fire box hot and regulating temperature based on such a small firebox. I also realized that you can’t expect this thing to hold up under really high temperatures. I did not let it get above 300 degrees. Also added the temperature gage at the cooking surface. Big difference in temperature at the cooking serface, typically 50 degrees or more lower than at the top where the Char-Broil gage is located. I made my one rub and cooked a 6 lb pork shoulder (cut in half). I again had issues keeping the fire box going. Used charcole and smaller cut wood from my wood pile. After four hours, I started having more issues keeping the fire box warm enough to maintain 220 degrees in the cooker. So, I ended up finishing the Butt on my gas grill bringing the meat to 180 degrees F. I combined local honey, garlic, teriyaki and white wine into a spray bottle spraying the Butt every half hour or so. I have to say that I surprised myself. It was the best I have ever eaten. My family flipped out about it. The outer area had created a delicious crust with intense flavor and a jerky like consistency while the meat just under the outer crust was moist and delicious. We all ate too much and nearly got sick. I can’t wait to cook more and likely I will get a more serious offset cooker. I plan to bring this one to my river house and like the simple fact that this is fairly light and easy to take with you. Just requires a little more attention during the cooking process. I purchased Strike a Fire on Amazon which helps get the chacole going and I’m going to keep a side charcole fire going to add warm Coles into the fire box along with wood chips etc. Looking for to experiementing more with this thing. By the way, the spray that I made was really good. Make sure you add wine as otherwise it is too salty from the teriyaki. I poured the marinade I made into a storage device with the left over meat. Yum!

I bought this for my husband and he loves it! The paint does chip off a little from the heat but it’s perfect sized for our little patio and the food has great flavor!

The Smoker was shipped and delivered very quickly! Normally the free shipping takes longer but I received it two days after ordering. The Smoker was exactly what I was looking for. It’s not Huge but a perfect size for our Family. I assembled it easily and smoked a rack of ribs on it the first day! I am very Happy with it!
alex davis –
kind of small I used the side smoker and the paint all came off the side door the first time I used it

Cooking surface area smaller than expected. No good way to clean the charcoal/ashes out after use.

You definitely get what you pay for… it is soooo tiny, I could have gotten a much better grill for same price at the store. Disappointed
Billie Menefee –
The temperature was not easy to control…it took two days to assemble ..just maybe we need a class to learn how to smoke …
C. Caswell –
This is great introductory smoker that works excellent. I have smoked a lot of ribs and loins with great success. I can leave this for hours and come back to perfectly smoked meats. This s not huge, but right size for family. Once you figure out the air flow settings which is about 1/4 and 1/4 travel you can regulate heat well.
Tiffany evans –
Absolutely loved this. Came as described. Had this for years, held up in all elements. My fiance loved it. Not huge or bulky. Easily moved.

As a Southern guy living in the city I started a trend of smoking meat in our community. Needed a small smoker so I choose this one because of the price. What I got was a mess in a box, chamber was bent parts were not fully done to spec and welds we’re loose. I noticed all this after I built it which wasn’t to hard to do. Contacted Char-Broil and they agreed to exchange the messed up parts.. Unfortunately I did not receive said parts before the 4th which is why there are 2 stars instead of 3.Char doesn’t have a bad idea with this small Smoker unfortunately it shoddy Made in China feel craftsmanahip is evident. With work this can be a beast of a tiny smoker. After I modded what I had I no longer want the replacement parts. I sealed every crevice with High temp silicone, drilled extra holes in the bottom for a drainage pan.I also stripped and repainted with Hugh temp paint because during seasoning the paint bubbled and burned off. I added HVAC aluminum piping to the stack and made a heat spreader of metal so there would be no cold spots. Used high temp foil tape to keep the smoke in around the lid.
michael –
Smaller than I thought- leaks everywhere -came with bent top & consumes massive quanities of charcoal -wood to fire
Josef-Alyassin –
great ppq grill thank you
NickA –
Very good for learning how to smoke. Sure, smoke leaks out of places, and the heat can very a lot with the wind, but that’s part of the learning process.
Kelly Hott –
Nice smoker for the price! Set up was ok, not many detailed instructions so I had to REALLY squint to see diagram when attaching the lid. I had smoke coming out around the fire box and lid, but not enough to be concerned with. I can fix that up with a seal. The screw for the fire box had stripped or was too small, or I used the wrong one when putting it together, so I couldn’t keep the fire box vent open for airflow, but a folded piece of aluminum foil, positioned it, and it held it open as much as I needed. The temperature probe only got above the peg (under the 150 degree mark) when I first started the fire. After that, it didn’t budge. I just watched my smoke output and figured I could move my brisket to the oven to finish cooking if I had to. My findings could be an isolated issue as you never know how it gets roughed up during shipping and as I said, for the money this smoker cost me, they are not items I am concerned with. I used charcoal, apple wood & pecan wood chunks (also sold here) and my brisket turned out GREAT! My man & parents were highly impressed and pleased how it turned out.
James R. Hooks –
Did a great job. A place to hang tools would be nice, but as is it’s still a great buy.

Definatly does whats expected of it though the paint comes off first time you use it

Bought this for our son…He was pleased but I thought the metal was a little too thin. and not real big…but considering the price…it is what it is. I figured it will last a year or two depending on use.

The grill/smoker works, however, the product quality isn’t stellar. Even worse, when I reached out to Char-Broil to remedy rust and paint peeling, they recommended I order some of the parts from a 3rd party grill-parts retailer.

I’ve never used a grill before so I’d definitely say this is a GREAT beginners grill/smoker. I put it together myself in about an hour, i also ran up to ace hardware grabbed some high heat silicone and sealed the smoker a littler better(i saw someone on yt do this figured I’d try it out) it works great! I’ve smoked a brisket at perfect temperature the whole way through I’ve grilled steaks chicken burgers all have come out so much better tasting then a cast iron on the oven!
i really like that i can play around with the smoker also my first 2 meats i tried smoking was a total fail but it’s all trail and error! Can’t wait to try and smoke some new things on here.

It is a decent grill. It does the job. It is small (especially the firebox), but I knew that when I bought it so no big deal. It is hard to smoke with because it is so thin and it leaks. It is very light weight. I have had it blow off my porch a few times in moderate winds. All-in-all, it does the job and is a good beginner smoker or for someone on a budget.

Really like my smoker but just a beginner when it comes to using it. Would be helpful since this says it is great for beginners that it come with some sort of instructions on how to smoke something…
S. Mc –
I bought this smoker as my first smoker. All of my friends and co-workers smoke meat and they got me into it. I wanted to try it on my own and bought this because it was a fairly inexpensive smoker and I figured if I was not good at it then at least I didn’t spend a fortune on it. I ended up loving smoking and this was a good purchase. However, as for product itself: it really isn’t that great. it’s a great starter smoker because of the size but there are many cons. The biggest being: THE PEELING AND MELTING PAINT. the paint started peeling during the first use and it melted the paint all over the food. from then on out I had to put foil all over the top of the smoker. The second complaint is that the front corners do not make a good sea- smoke just billows out of there instead of staying inside the smoker. another complaint isn’t faulty manufacturing it’s just due to this style of smoker. it’s very hard to clean due to the shape. I wish i would have gotten a cabinet style. friends of mine have cabinet style smokers and they are just all around better. However, the seller was great and it shipped in a timely manner and was in great condition. The only positive of this product is that the smoker was really easy to assemble.

Smaller than it looks, the biggest pain in the you know what to put together (think Ikea with a million parts), never again, it functions, go buy a little weber circle and don’t be a cheap skate like I was, lol, kind of flimsy too, that little side table is dumb
Amazon Customer –
This combination grill/smoker is a perfect size for our family of 3 with some guests. It easily accommodated a good-sized pork shoulder and a whole chicken for smoking and could grill 10-12 burgers at a time. It was quite easy to put together, though it did take a little while. We are quite pleased. This was a good grill/smoker at a good price.
Linda Murphy –
Good other than alot of the holes don’t line up in order to screw them in in the right spot
Krafty3 –
Not used as much as we hoped because you have to pay close attention to keep the temperature right. Meat is delicious and worth the time.
Stephanie Cole Brock –
I have had this grill for a year and a half now, we cook on it every other weekend if not more through out the week. It sits outside in the sun on the back porch uncovered and its still is great! Couldnt have spent my money anybetter
Tanya Lopez –
It’s a lot smaller than the grill we were trying to replace. The smoker attachment is great and keeps the heat up/maintained. Great for a small family or an additional grill for a cook out!!
Yukio –
It’s not too big and right size for serving up to around 10 -12 people as a BBQ grill. I haven’t used it as a smoker yet.
Steve –
VERY DISAPPOINTED! The charcoal grates were so poorly designed that charcoal would fall thru when I poured it into the grill before lighting it.. There is no means of raising or lowering the charcoal to adjust the heat. The smoke box is so small it is difficult to manage. There is only one air vent which doesn’t allow for even heat distribution. I thought I could trust the name CharBroil as a quality product but this Smoker/Grill isn’t worth the time and aggravation of buying it.
Bobby & Yvonne –
My husband is a chef, and he absolutely loves this barbeque/smoker. He said that the smoker box is large enough to actually use pieces of wood instead of having to buy chips for it. Since we have some hickory branches, he has been using those when he smokes meats. The BBQ is large enough to smoke a small turkey, or a ham, pork butt, or a nice bunch of ribs. The heat can be regulated in the smoking box so that you can cook at about any temperature that you want.We got this smoker from Amazon and paid about half the price it was selling for in the stores; so we are also happy with the price savings.Edit to add: We have had this BBQ smoker for over two years now, still using it all summer, and it is still working fine. This thing does such a wonderful job of smoking , and yet is also perfect when we just want a quick BBQ grill.
Chyann Graham –
It was an amazing gift for my son-in-law. Very durabl also wonderful price.
Jacquelynn Boyd –
Assembled easily, took about 30 minutes with my husband and I working together. It cooks evenly and I’m extremely pleased with the purchase! I would reccomend getting some heat resistant spray paint for it, and also found that ours did not close all the way initially. We used some weights on the handle and it seemed to fix it.
barbara scott –
The grill cooked perfect I loved it especially the smoker it cook better than the other part my full turn out great only problem is moving it from one place to my shed because of the two wheels there is nothing strong that I can pull it back-and-forth but other than that I love the grill
scott greene –
perfect amount of cooking space. Smoker side is a little undersized. Besides that its worth the price! Definitely recommend!
Melissa Bradham –
This smoker was easy to put together. Works great for smokeing whatever we need to. only complaint is some of the paint came off first time we used it.

Smoker was nice for the price. I just wish it was a little more sturdier. I bought this for my dad for Xmas so it hasn’t been used yet. But dad was happy with it

I don’t see how anyone could give this grill/smoker a bad review. It is kinda small but it gets the job done. Assmebly was really fairly easy. Once it was assembled I follwed the instructions on seasoning it. I have never attempted to smoke anything in my life. The first thing I tried with this grill was a 4lb Boston Butt. It came out perfect! It looked and tasted wonderful. I would definately reccomend this grill to a friend. When it was at it’s hottest temp wise some of the paint did come off the firebox. But really I could care less. It doesnt deter from the way it works. I didnt buy this grill to show off to my friends, I bought it to cook food and it does that.
A. Murray –
I love it!! I had fast shipping! It was easy to put together, I put it together myself in about an hour or so. I’s the perfect size for us! It’s just me and my boyfriend and he cooks on it all the time! We try to have as many meals on the grill as we can!
Javi703 –
Good entry smoker, I smoked a 16 pound turkey for thanksgiving, arrived early and serves well.
Ronald Henderson –
The grill will be great for a small yard or if you do not have a lot to cook. Putting it together was simple. The smoker worked great.
matthew amador –
This product works perfec, and it was delivered two days early.
Wes Nestor –
Too messy and too hard to maintain consistent temperature. Went to electric with pellets.
Michael Jennings –
Very durable grill!! Does the job and the food comes out great!!!

So I have been trying to figure out how to smoke on this but it just doesn’t work well. The heating is very uneven when trying to smoke as well. When grilling the grates are too close to the fire and it has quite the learning curve to get the grill to work well. I found I need to have the coals scarcely distributed along the bottom after getting it going.
SKYLER SAmazon Customer –
Awesome, really love it.
WINESHAMAN –
This grill was a bit smaller than I was expecting but still fits my needs very well, only use this for smoking and due to it’s relatively small size it seem to be easier to control both the heat and the smoke. My only concern is how well it will hold up as the quality of the materials seem a little lacking, I line the bottom of both compartments with heavy duty aluminum foil and replace it after each use hopefully this will help with corrosion, but for the money I and very pleased.
JIM PATTIE –
works great love the great smoked flavor on fish pork and poultry ready to try more recipies
Barb Streck –
We have had this smoker for one week and love it…..my husband smoked baby backs a beef brisket and I grilled chicken….I love the size I was grilling for two and used royal oak wood briquettes i used one side of the grill and during the grilling I moved the chicken to the area that did not have briquettes so did indirect heat to slow the cooking progress down……my husband taught me that method . Our smoker is also chipping paint but we will paint it with a high heat paint the type you would use for wood stoves…..so all that to say for the price it’s our favorite grill…taking the other three to the dump
Brundie –
This was the perfect smoker/grill for my daughter. She has already smoked a brisket and prepared grilled meat for her friends! She loves it!
NChap –
Worked very well for what I intended to use it for. Had a little difficult time getting the heat to distribute right, but all in all a great value for the money!
Donnie Elmore –
Good grill but damaged when I got it. They were very helpful on getting the parts replaced
MHF –
Great product and shipping
Elaine –
I actually bought two of these. One smoker’s thermostat won’t reach the needed temperature for proper cooking. Why don’t they close and seal with a latch? The lid just sits on top of the bottom which might be the problem with the heat escaping.
Amber prince –
Absolute junk. Bent up and broken weld out of the box. It’s almost comical how bad it is
Loretta in Indiana –
A part of missing. Emailed company. They never responded. 🙁 The smoker works well but takes a lot of attention to keep the temperature regulated.
Amazon Customer –
Overall it’s cheaply made and Maintaining temp is difficult without babysitting it the whole time but that doesn’t bother me because it is what I expected for the price. also it will rust within a few weeks. If you buy this expect a cheap smoker but it does get the job done and worth the price for a beginner.
Faith –
Came in very quickly & easy to put together. Took about an hour or so to get it completely together. Nice size for small family.
Keith –
An OK grill – the fire box is smaller than I anticipated
mike smith –
excellent
Cagla DarveauxCagla Darveaux –
I bought this as a simple smoker so we can upgrade once we decide we like smoking .. but the wear within one week after one use under 400 degrees is a complete peeling of paint.
bob –
This rig can be easily modified to make it a low-temperature smoker that does a fine job of cold smoking salmon..a good choice for the money. Without the mod though, it must be too hot in order to keep the smoke flowing…making it a very good hot smoker/cooker but too hot for fish smoking.
Msplumuniq –
Gift for hubby at Christmas. He does seem to like it a lot! He has already bar-b-qd on it. It’s a not super huge or deep smoker of course, but does the job for a small family like us. And for the price, you wouldn’t expect more. I was even surprised it was as large as it is for the price! Hubby wasted no time in getting this assembled right away on Christmas day. If you’re not looking for a real large smoker, and need a low price, this is the one for you. Good buy.
jenpie –
The size of the grill is perfect but… as soon as I put a fire in the smoke box I realize the paint is not high temperature paint. The entire grill smells like toxic fumes while grilling and smoking. I am concerned that after using it only a few timea that the smoke box is going to burn a hole through the bottom and not be usable. Kind of disappointing since that was the pirpose of buying it as a gift.
Amazon Customer –
Nice for the size
Antonio Roman –
Poorly constructed, but I make it work.
Angela Turner –
I love my grill. I only wish it was a little bigger. I should have taken more time to reaearch the size.
Benjamin MooreBenjamin Moore –
This is my first smoker. I’ve used it five times so far. All in all, it works pretty well. It’s not perfect, but if you’re just getting into smoking, you can’t beat it for the price. It’s not as heavy duty as more expensive smokers, but I’m really enjoying learning with it. There are a lot of great videos on YouTube for tips on smoking. It’s a fun hobby, and you get to eat great food! 😀
DJ AbrahamDJ Abraham –
I expected the paint issue given other reviews but figured for the price it’s worth getting it. There is almost no tempeture control due to it being small. When it comes to offset smokers bigger is better for temp control. As for the paint issue I recommend getting and using a grill cover so it will take longer before rust becomes a real issue and you could pick up a 4 dollar can of high temp paint. If you’re dying to get grilling but low on funds I think this is a good choice or in my case if you want to get to grilling right away but are working on a permanent grill patio that will take a while to be built… It gets the job done.
Marlene K –
My son in law loves it and uses it all the time
D. Griffin –
Despite all the complaints about assembly. this cooks great food. So far I have only used 1 of the ceramic coated grill inserts. I place the charcoal on 1 side, sear the meat over those coals and then simply slide the grate to the other side if I need to slow cook. Spray a little Pam on the grill and cleanup is a breeze. Play with the openings on the stack and the wood box vent to regulate the temp, there’s a thermometer right on top. Pull out the charcoal/wood grates at the bottom and line it with foil to ease cleanup. This grill is a perfect size for us. It is just the wife and I, but we can easily cook for 6-8 if we have guests. If you want to cook for the neighborhood, there is a bigger version of this grill. Back to the opening statement. The instructions could stand to be a little clearer about what direction to start the bolts. About half of mine are backwards, but it really doesn’t effect anything but the looks.
C. Irving –
Had great BBQ experiences with it. My teen put it together, and we really enjoy the smoker off-set.
Jeff Hulsey –
It took me no time to assemble this smoker. It’s small, relatively light, but large enough to handle normal cooking for up to 8 hungry people. There are charcoal grates in both the firebox and under the main grates in the smoker body, so you can use it as a ‘normal’ grill if you need to. The only drawback I can find is that the firebox’s charcoal grate is a bit low for the use of a charcoal chimney, if you start your fires with a chimney that drops the coals out the bottom, rather than the invert-and-dump type. That’s a flaw in the design of the chimney, though.I don’t know yet how it will stand up to use or abuse. I expect it will perform admirably, given the solidity of its construction. The package was missing ONE flange nut, but I have tons of fasteners and other hardware on hand, so it was no great hardship (I could have assembled it using nothing but my own hardware, if the package had been missing entirely). One missing nut is typical, or even good, for items like this. I recommend the manufacturer start packing one or two extra nuts and bolts with each item they produce, though.I’m not a fan of using soup cans as grease catchers, and hate the hangers. I’m considering making a small shelf to go under the main smoker body, and placing an old bowl filled with sawdust under the grease hole, instead. Something else the manufacturer might consider. But for the price, this is an excellent smoker. You can’t normally find an offset smoker in the sub-$100 range that’s worth anything. Normally the metal is too thin, or they don’t have charcoal grates, or the legs wobble, or the design is garbage entirely. This isn’t the case here. It comes with charcoal grates across the entire unit, the cooking grates are cast iron coated in porcelain (fast heating, holds heat well, cleans easily with water and a brass brush), it has a sturdy shelf on the side, good handles, decent wheels, good dampers, solid hinges and a thermometer built into the main lid. Plus, it’s large enough to do 8-12 large burgers at once, multiple sausages, several ears of corn or 2-4 brisket (depending on the size of the cut). And if you’re thinking ‘burgers? it’s a smoker!’ then you’ve never had slow-smoked burgers before.

Easy to assemble and great cooking on it

The product has already started to rust after only 1 month. Also the door on the smoke box has to be propped open while cooking. Kind of sucks.

Good little BBQ for the backyard chef. Just the right size for a party of 4. The legs are a bit wobbly, so be careful when moving it around. Otherwise, we are quite happy with it.

It’s ok for entry level smokers, but not what I expected. It has way to many gaps in the grill to really control air flow and keep keep at a constant temperature. I’m a fan of charbroil products but this one is not that great.

Does nice job but paint is peeling off charcoal section after first use. Time will tell if rust becomes an issue. The BBQ is tasty though…

Not sure what everyone else is complaining about but I have had no trouble with this grill in the last month of having it. I have no doubt that it will rust eventually as it’s made of steel, not stainless steel or titanium. No signs of rust nor peeling paint yet, nor does it look like it will soon.I followed the instructions to season it, which I bet is important to do.I’ve cooked on it 4 times now for about 2-3 hours each time. About 30 items. In between I keep it under a cover you can find on Amazon for $30. Good investment in my opinion if you want to prolong the longevity, just like anything else, if you treat it well it’ll last. It’s not amazing quality, it appears to be made of formed sheet metal, BUT it does the job great! Sturdy once put together. I did have to get a replacement because some of it was damaged, but I swapped out the parts and it’s fine. Also not sure what people are saying about it smoking excessively. I would think that’s user error on how you’re grilling. Haven’t used it as a smoker yet.For under $80 I couldn’t have asked for a better and more spacious grill!
Linda White –
Nice grill and well made. We didn’t realize how small it was, but it will still hold 2 large hams. We will be keeping it.

This is a great smoker for beginners like me who have no idea what they’re doing! Low price, easy to assemble and great instructions included on how to season it. The first night I smoked a chicken which tasted delicious! I just need to learn how to keep the heat constant which is half the battle 🙂

Nice grill, not too big, not too small. Idea for a family of 3-4. The smoker is definitely a plus. I had at one time placed a grate on top of the smoker and used that part as a boiler for side dishes. You can sort of do your own thing with this work of art… you decide which is best for you, but get this product.

I love this grill!!! I have cooked on this grill the entire summer without any complaints. I just wish I would have got the bigger one because I entertained family often this spring and summer. It’s perfect when I’m only grilling for the kids and I, but if you entertain when you barbecue get the larger size.

Most of the bolts and nuts were rattling around loose in the package. The only thing pre-assembled was the lid to the fire box. Really hard to put together for a disabled 62 year old but, after a couple hours in 92degree weather, I got it done

For how much the smoker cost it is a great smoker. This one would be good for someone who is just getting started into smoking.

I bought it for my brother as a gift and he used it ONCE to make a small chicken cause that all you smoke in it cause it’s SO SMALL and THE PAINY WAS CHIPPING OFF FROM THE HEAT!So not worth the price smh

i got this in 2011 and leaving it outside all year and using it 30x plus a year , the fire box is starting to wear real thin, but for a 100 bucks i can just replace the entire thing … (although i feel bad about the waste)
EaglesfanWPHS –
Depth smaller than expected. Assembled easily. Takes a while to get adjusted to the heat when BBQing as the grill is low to the coals. Haven’t smoked anything yet, but I’m sure it will be a learning process.
Gayle Benoit –
Definitely not what I expected. Smaller than the picture shows. Cannot for the life of me get it to cook evenly.

Terrific grill. Came in beat up and the lid would not shut all the way. Some pliers and time and it’s perfect now. The paint is perfect, I seen some others where it was peeling but mine after 6 cooks over 5 hours each cook looks like new
Rebecca McGill –
Great smoker. Used it quite a few times. The firebox could be a little bigger but still has plenty enough room to use.
Strain-Hunter –
a very good smoker the only problem I found was when the post office delivered it they threw it on the ground so it has a small dent in it
Scott Young –
We bought this cause it was supposed to have been a decent size grill but it isnt. Its tiny and you might be able to fit 6 burgers on it at a time. DO NOT BUY
Eric –
You get what you pay for. I wasn’t expecting the quality of a $600 smoker at all….but I was a little disappointed that I seasoned it this morning…and a bunch of the paint peeled off of the fire box. I haven’t even cooked a meal with it yet. I may try to purchase some high temp paint from the local hardware store to see if it’s just a poor quality paint that chat broil uses. Having said all of this, it smoked nice and I had no problem controlling the temp while I was seasoning it. I wish it had a little more cooking area but it’ll work for a small family.
Debra Ponzetti –
Very nice starting smoker to see if you will like smoking. We will be buying a bigger one next year because this is large enough for 1 big slab of ribs and we would like to smoke more at one time
Jacob Fairchild –
This thing is small and rusts ridiculously easy
Julio D. –
It’s a little thinner then what I expected but worked amazing, you truly get what you pay for but it’s really not a bad buy . Mine was a little bent in the back and the screws where scattered all in the box and I was missing some .

My husband loves this smoker/grill. He made the best hamburgers I ever had!
reshonda jenkins –
Cool little grill. Can’t complain. Nice value.
frank c. –
Works well except lid doesn’t fit very tight and some smoke escapes around it. Heavier gauge than expected but a little smaller. Takes a lot of charcoal over 4-6 hours. Paint popped off outside bottom of heat chamber with first time use. Fit 6 chicken leg quarters and a 4 lb pork roast on it and it was full. Put some hickory chunks on rack above the charcoal and the flavor was great.

I had high hopes for this smoker but I just can’t seem to get the knack of it. After receiving it, I tried smoking a rack of ribs. I looked up tutorials on how to use an offset smoker and made sure I read the instructions that came with the smoker. The thermometer read 250 degrees pretty much the whole time as I did my best to maintain the heat but after 6hrs the ribs were still raw and not even to temp. I ended up taking it inside and finishing them off in the oven. I thought that maybe I was losing heat because I didn’t have a tight seal so I bought some high temp sealant and insulation tape and went over the problem spots. Again, I tried to smoke about 30 chicken wings and even meticulously managing the fire per the thermometer the wings weren’t fully cooked even after 4hrs. If anyone has tips please pass them along because I’m thinking of just buying an electric smoker. The only thing I was able to successfully smoke was some mackerel but it took almost 12hrs. It works well as a grill but I didn’t but it for that purpose.
Mike taylor –
Works ok for burgers. Not sturdy enough for true smoking usage. Paint continually burning off even after several uses.
Kari –
Son in law loved it! Good, heavy quality…. recommend
Sean R.Sean R. –
You get what you pay for. This was my first smoker and my meat came out amazing. As long as you do a little research yours will to. My paint did not peel. Cleaned and lined the inside with Pam. Put down foil. The top leaks a little but I just ordered a seal to fix that. Held temperature nice regardless. Very happy with this smoker. Will be smoking again tomorrow on this baby.
Amazon CustomerAmazon Customer –
I had one major issue with this product; the parts didn’t fit together correctly. I didn’t have any issues with the instructions and everything was there and clearly labeled, however, the metal pieces where not shaped in such a way that they fit together well. This namely resulted in a lid that just doesn’t quiet seat correctly on the main grill portion leaving a gap all the way across the front that starts at just over an inch on one end to just under an inch on the opposite. I had to spend an additional 45 min to an hour with a pair of pliers manually adjusting the bend on the lip of the lid and pan to make them seat more evenly and was eventually able to get the one side to close all the way and the other with a slight gap. So im left with a dilemma; either use the thing as is with a hanging weight to keep the lid shut OR disassemble the whole damn thing, repackage it and return it in the hopes that the replacement (if I even get one after i took pliers to it) doesn’t have the same damn problem. Now here is the rub, this IS a very inexpensive smoker/grill combo and Im not expecting rock solid quality for bottom of the barrel prices. And this is really the only grill in this size range and i don’t want to spend 3-4 times more for a much nicer grill that is simply going to be way to large for me and my wife’s two burgers. If you are looking at this product please realize that its going to take you a bit of adjusting and tweaking and patience to get this product to a point where its even usable. Don’t buy this product if you you want an outstanding smoker/grill combo, it just wont be worth the saved money and frustration.
L HightowerL Hightower –
The grill was smaller than expected. Per the picture attached, the paint was chipping off while grilling. The grill wasn’t airtight which made smoking less efficient. The grill also didn’t heat evenly. Only the side near the heat box was cooking temperature.
Kiyara –
Item came damaged but was still somewhat functional
Danny –
This is the perfect smoker for your porch or yard, it has a firebox but you can also put charcoal in the main smoker part either for extra heat or just to cook burgers and hotdogs, I used this smoker to smoke a ham for Easter and it was delicious. I would definitely recommend this smoker grill combo.
Joseph Hymbaugh –
I bought this as a gift. I went ahead and assembled it as I wanted to ensure it had all the parts and there were no issues. Well glad I did. Most parts have paint falling off. The lid does not seal at all as the bottom part of the grill is extremely bent. None of the screw holes lined up. It looks like it was dropped except the box it came in didn’t even have a bump in it. Will be asking for a full refund
Michael O. Babcock –
good little smoker for the money.
Richard Catts –
This is second one of these I have purchased. I will use this one exclusively for smoking. This grill/smoker is the perfect size for a small family, it does an excellent job smoking ribs, chickens, and pork roasts, gets the job done relatively quickly, (three hours for all the aforementioned). The only problem I have with these grill/smokers is that they are not very durable. The heat from smoke box will eventually rust out the top and bottom of the smoke/heat box, (two years for me), and the same thing happened to the bottom of the grill area, it actually caved in and I had to cover the hole with heavy duty aluminum foil. This grill/smoker would be perfect if not for this one problem. I believe that a heavy duty version of this grill/smoker would sell extremely well, I would buy one at twice the price.

Not even worth one star it’s a mess in a box’s the box’s and smoker where both damaged when I received there are dints and ding’s all over it half the bolts and nuts are missing. So not Worth to money.!!!!

So far I’ve smoked chicken, spareribs, pork butt, hamburgers, and cheddar cheese. Everything has come out delicious. Not just my opinion other people habe tried my food. Takes a little time to learn temp control. But still learning. I use hickory pellets in a pellet tube for my smoke.
Tony MasonTony Mason –
I needed a small offset smoker that wouldn’t take up too much room. I found this one to be very inexpensive and just the right size. Very good quality at this price point. Smoked a couple of chickens to test it out and everyone was very pleased with the result. Pretty easy to control the temperature and the smoke. Easy to load extra charcoal and wood chips. Very happy with this purchase.
JLO –
Used this for the first time this weekend and it worked great! I live in a townhouse apt and do not have large groups of people over so its perfect size for me. You can smoke enough food for 6-8 people at most.
Dianna –
There was a dent in the lid but other than that it was perfect. This was a gift for first time grill owners so it fit their needs just fine.
SE LLC –
Handle screws interfere with grill removal on smoke kettle. All complaints otherwise are likely do to the petite size of the grill. At that price though what do you expect?
Santiago –
Overall very pleased with it. And for the money, can’t really go wrong with it. Thermometer on it is pretty good. Kind of hard to regulate the temp. Has to be under constant supervision.paint peeled off it with in the first 10 minutes of using it. But food came out great!

I bought for my mother who needed an extra one and it’s still works excellent , heavy and sturdy.
Amazon Customer –
If you want a barrel smoker with a firebox and are OK with a capacity of 2 full rib racks, then this is the smoker for you. Biggest design negative is the charcoal ash must be scooped out, but any change to this would likely have a negative effect on the ability to control temperature while smoking.

For the money, it’s alright. The biggest problem is it takes too long to heat up the smoker. Not the best investment of money. Save your money and get a nicer one!

R. Corbett –
I don’t use this as a smoker grill just steaks and bratwurst so far the grill uses much less charcoal than my old aussie grill. I get enough cooking area using just the left side is enough for two adults and one child. I think I could entertain 4 additional guests by using both grill surfaces, Easier to control air flow and heat which has improved result over past grills.
Mercedez –
A little small. Would not recommend for a large family. Enough space for a family of 4. Was a little difficult to assemble.
aaztekaa –
Good for small apartment it’s really small

Great for the beginner. Takes some time to get food right with the offset method but the smoky flavor is fantastic. Patience is a must. Grill is well worth the price.

TreeEzzell –
only give it 3 stars for the all the black burning away. Have to go and buy 9 dollar heat resistant paint and repaint entire thing. Smoked my husbands ham nicely though.
Melh –
Item was easy to put together. Only took me about 30 mins to do it by myself. I didnt realize how short and how small the item actually was. In on my 5’4″ and its short for me. My husband is 6ft and has to lean over to cook on it!. It still holds charcoal and works well.
Sam –
15 minutes after lighting the charcoal for the first time, the paint is already peeling and littering our back porch! With a product that is used at high heat, you’d figure it would be designed and painted to withstand the heat! I’m super sad I gave my husband this piece of junk for Christmas 🙁
Dora A. –
It gets the job done I really love it! Its just the right size for a family of 3 but we can even use it when we have company over. Might need to retouch the paint after a while if you wish but if you don’t it won’t look bad it just gives it character.

Perfect size for small batches of grilling

Good product for the price paid … Walmart charges $150 and lowes charges $130 for same grill/smoker . Installation is simple and really performs well and looks unique on the balcony , it’s not a premium $800 grill it’s $80 so keep that in mind, overall recommend especially if you want something nice and you are on a budget
A –
Haven’t even had mine a month, the paint’s already coming off from the heat. The quality is low.
Jenwright –
I wish I would’ve done a little more research before purchasing this just because it was cheap. I thought maybe it would just get the job done and some times it does but the heat gets unevenly distributed because its so small so you get burnt pieces, under cook, and perfect meat all in one smoke session. =/ wouldn’t get this again now looking for a different smoker.
Rosetta Pettus –
Price was right , but it’s worth paying for the deluxe. But it’s nice for a small porch or apartment.
amy delapp –
We use this on the regular well my husband does, he truly loves this. It is one of the best gifts I have got him.
Cherie Krok –
Great little smoker, but I stress the word little. Only fils about one rack of ribs at a time. Good if you are just starting out and learning to smoke meat.
Jonathan Collins –
Absolutely Love this grill! Great smoker and it was very easy to put together. If you want a great smoker grill without the high price, this is the one I would highly recommend.
Tim Langston –
Definitely a waste of time. My hinges are not lined up.. Lid doesn’t line up .
Amanda Techow –
This grill was pretty easy to put together and it works very well! We’re gonna do so much grilling on this grill! I’d have to say my only complaint about it is that there’s no way to get the burnt coals out, you’ll have to scoop them or something. But other than that, perfect!

I bought this for my father for Christmas and he loves it.It was very affordable and does an excellent job of smoking meat as long as you know how to do it correctly.
Joel R Jensen –
On the smaller side, but is perfect for my 4 person family. Helps not waste charcoal or wood as the big barrel smoker’s.
The River Rancher –
yes this is a good product easy to assemble, works great, and fun to use.
Helene Simpson –
Purchased for my husband as a gift. This is not a large grill, however it was priced right. It is the right size for our family grilling. Easy to move and store when not in use.
Chuck Henry –
Finally got it set up and smokin’… to cure it before I cook. Today I’ve got lots of things to put on it to grill and smoke and can hardly wait to start! It’s pretty heavy duty and not real big, but perfect for my husband and me and a few guests.
Aaron H.Aaron H. –
Two people makes assembly much easier. I did use someone else’s recommendation to apply hi-temp silicone at the seams and bolts and gaskets around the smoke chamber because it does leak some smoke. Still learning it’s temp control secrets, but it seems like it will be manageable after some practice. Would recommend this product.

Great little smoker. metal is not super thick but it does it job very well. considering the price it could be 6 stars

Excellent little grill/smoker. Works great and the size is just what I needed.
Catheryn –
We Love this barbecue/smoker! It’s not the highest quality item, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to, and you just can’t beat the price!
Neil Mason –
Good enough for what it is. Be sure you read the description, it’s very small. I thought it was a full size grill. (The price should have stopped me.) It’s not, maybe half the size. Cooking area of about 10”x 24” maybe a little more. I was able to cook a couple of pork loin roast on it. It does work ok.
Hon Lee –
this unit is just the right size for a couple of people. i’m smoking a 16 inch beef rib chunk and a 5 pound prime rib roast right now and it fits like a glove. the offset chamber is just the right size for the chamber and the whole assembly can be placed in a closet sized cubby hole easily out of the way. above all, all the parts are easily accessed and with one filling from a Weber 7416 chimney starter, i’ve managed a 2 – 1/2 hour fire at 250 degrees…so easy stoking and easy temperature maintenance makes for fun on the cheap. the Amazon price is less than a good hibachi to boot, with far greater versatility.
Brandi –
Though it was going to be bigger. Doesn’t hold much on the grill. The briquettes/charcoal is to close to the meat because the barrel is pretty small in diameter.
Ricky A. –
A bit smaller than I had expected. The lids do not sit flush when closed, allowing more air to come in and heat to escape, so keeping it at a consistent temp is challenging. Overall, a fine unit, I just wished I had purchased one that was a little more expensive.
KoryKory –
The media could not be loaded.
My grill arrived and when unpacking all the screws and bolts were out to the package and all throughout the box and now as I’m completing the assembly I am missing two bolts. There were smears of something being spilled on the lids and inside the grill barrel. Make sure you throughly check your package!!
AmazonQueen13 –
Used one time and the paint peeled away from metal . Really weird the smoker itself is fine but the paint is unappealing. Reached out about it no one has returned my email.. May have to return
David S. Hagan –
Let’s start positive. I just made an amazing smoked turkey breast on this smoker. It works, and I will use it again very soon. There were many negative aspects about this purchase though. Firstly, the smoker was shipped without all of the parts. I called the company to send the missing hinges (keep in mind I said hinges not hinge). Charbroil charged me $11 to ship them. When the replacement came in, they only sent one hinge and not two. I called again and they sent the other hinge. Not a big deal, but it was frustrating and time consuming. Then when I started the fire in the fire box, the exterior coating caught on fire. After I put this out I had to prop open the airflow door to the fire box with a stick. I don’t recommend this product, but with patience and improvisation I did create a great dinner on it. Also because I am a cheapskate, I will continue to use this product until it becomes a fire hazard.

4.5/5 The rating system will not let me give half stars, but 4.5 is what I really think. This is simply an excellent smoker for the money. You wont find another deal better, and if you do take it. I have used the smoker to smoke and grill and its works perfectly. The one only thing that you will find a problem with it is that it will rust. You have to make sure to get a cover of some kind because I have had it for about 2 rains and it has already started to rust. The metal is quite thick, and I doubt that it will ruin the smoker any time soon, but you will need a cover in order to maintain the smoker.
Deede –
Not the best grill/smoker that I’ve ever owned -but five stars for getting what I paid for. Was missing a part which was quickly delivered by manufacuter – easy assembly – works great. Not dissapointed – exactly as advertised.

We’ve grilled steaks, burgers, and hot dogs on ours so far (different occasions) and it’s a great grill! It was easy to assemble, it hold the heat well and there is plenty of room for charcoal or if you want to actually use it as a smoker. My husbnad loves it!

I like it because it looks good and it cooks at least 2 slabs of ribs an 1 chicken all at once. and the price plus quality great.

Perrrrrfect starter grill!I purchased this last year for my boyfriends Christmas gift and bundled it with the wood and cover. The shipping center did bang up a corner but, since it did not seem to hurt the grill we did not complain – plus my boyfriend was so excited about it he did NOT want to part with it long enough to get a new one shipped! This baby has made a ton of yummy meats and grilled veggies! I would highly recommend for someone who is looking for a compact grill or a first time grill – or heck even the grill master in our family loves to use this for smoking and grilling meats when he comes to visit!

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. It was finally warm enough to put it to good use! It took about an hour to put together. It is very sturdy. We cooked a couple of whole chickens and it was to die for! We’ll definitely be using this instead of our grill when we have the chance.
Joseph Mcmurray –
Really easy to use. The dampers make it easy to regulate the temperature. I have never smoked before, but it was easy to make some awesome ribs and pork shoulder. Can’t beat it for the price
Windy GutierrezWindy Gutierrez –
Sooooo…I decided on this grill because I was comparing the cooking surfaces of it and other grills and cooking surface was largest…..I didn’t look at the overall dimensions. It’s comically small. Like looks like it belongs in a kid’s play set. I’m not kidding, it’s an appropriate height for my 7 yr old. It’s so short and the main cooking compartment the bottom portion is very shallow, you can only fit enough charcoal in there to cook something quick like burgers or hot dogs. We bought if for a family vacation home and were counting on using it the day it got delivered since we had no other cookware, or else I would have boxed it back up and returned it.At least we all got a laugh out of the child’s sized grill. I have included pictures of my father in law wondering who brought a playhouse grill out for your viewing pleasure.
Mike M. –
First of all I have to say I am a beginner to smoking. I have a couple of friends who showed me how to go about it and decided to purchase this one. For the money it really can’t be beat. It does what it is supposed to do. It was easy to put together, took about 30-45 minutes. I did do a Pork shoulder on it. My only issue is that I do need to get some high heat gasket seal….$15 investment. It worked without it but it will help keep the temperature up and make it easier to control. The final product turned out great. I can’t wait to do the next one. For the money I thought if i hated it I could always make this into a flower pot. Down the road that may happen but only because I got a bigger smoker. If you are thinking about getting one do not hesitate to get this one. You will be happy with your choice.
Tina Miller –
My son can smoke some great butts now and as the normal cook feel it was a great gift / investment!
Kramirez –
Functional smoker, but it requires a LOT of babysitting. Definitely not set it and forget it… I bought this as an introductory smoker to try my hand at barbecue. The end result has been pretty good, but have found myself adjusting settings, adding wood or otherwise messing with this thing every 15-30 minutes for the entire cooking process (an all day commitment). Rather small grill area for meat, fits approximately 2 racks of pork ribs maxed completely out (I knew this ahead of time). I bought this because I wanted something entry level with a low price point, but I am wishing I just spent a little more for something nicer. Put your money toward something nicer, you’ll thank yourself.
Adri –
For $82.99 you cant beat this offset smoker/grill. It took about 45 min to put together (not as bad as Ikea). I had seen a lot of negative reviews for this grill, but for the most part the people seemed like they hadn’t read the description before buying it. Yes it is somewhat small, but once again LOOK AT THE PRICE AND LOOK AT THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION! I made sure to season the whole thing with canola oil before I used it. And I also ran it above 400 degrees F for awhile to burn off any toxins. Before you know it I had over 2 pounds of pork spare ribs and 3 whole chicken fryers in that bad boy. I smoked them for about 4 hours (had a water container inside to keep the meat moist) with some hardwood lump coal to start and mesquite the rest of the time. Came out great!! If you’re looking for a small smoker that you can use to feed 4 people per cooking rotation, BUY THIS THING. Once again you cant beat that price!! It says it came with a 1 year warranty but of course I bought the 2 year extended warranty. Hope this helps!!

Good practical smoker. Works like a charm.Like all smoker/grills it needs to be refined in process!

First and foremost if your buying this for the smoking box just don’t. It doesn’t have any room to hold wood and if you figure out how to fit wood in there like my brother you will be feeding it quickly. The smoking box is itty bittty. That being said I bought this back in February to grill on for burgers and bbq bc we didn’t have a pit/grill. It’s july and it’s still doing what it was intended for. There’s no drip pan my brother rigged up an empty aluminum can good and it works just fine. It has started to rust but we did not season it and coat it in vegetable oil like you should (not my choice my little brother doesn’t follow directions very well). We use it quite a bit and never put a cover on it and it’s held up longer than I would have expected for $60. I recommend for a charcoal grill but not as a smoker at all. You get what you pay for, it is worth it as long as you don’t need the smoking box. Sorry the picture didn’t come out good I’ll retake it another time but as you can see 6 months and it still looks pretty good.
Jeremy Chapman –
I went with this smoker due to the other good reviews it received, It was a snap to assemble, although you will need 2 people to make it easier towards the end of the assembly. It was incredibly easy to “season” it for smoking, you do need to watch how much wood you put in the box as it is a small unit and the temperature can spike really quick. But once you learn how to control that, as well as the intake of air/outlet of air, it does indeed make AMAZING FOOD!!! I have had mine for almost 2 weeks as of this review, and I have smoked ribs, pork shoulder, steaks, and roasts, to mouth watering succulent perfection!!! I am experienced at smoking, so if you are not, start out with cheaper cuts of meat at first until you get a “feel” for the smoker. But this is an EXCELLENT little smoker, and well worth the money!!!

We are so happy to have bought this! Great Size great Price! A nice buy thank you very much for such a great service.
Colgar –
Great grill for the money. Fairly easy to assemble.
Louis Escalante –
Very very good bbq pit
Anthony c. Thornton –
The only one thing is that smoke escapes around lid.
JOJOMA –
For the size and left heat differential it works great. Make sure you understand to increase you cook time with side heat. Most recipes I see online deal with heat coming from the bottom. This is heat coming form the side. Spin your meat and add 2-3 hours smoking. Also very easy to smother your fire on long smoking sessions if you don’t tend the coals and clean out ash as you go. But again for the price….you deal with it.
John Rivera –
The unit was fairly easy to put together. After it was put together the right side would not seal and tended to be up as if warped.
Tim W. –
The price was right and the functionality was just what I was looking for. It seems small compared to other offset smokers on the market but it will easily cook three butts or chickens or hundreds of ribs. Had no problem regulating the heat (a continual problem with the stacked water smokers). Easy to clean and use.
Suzy Welch –
season w crisco before using to prevent rusting and remove ashes tyo help not rusting

Perfect starter broil. My 14 year old son had a lot of fun putting it together Now I’m teaching him how smoke items.
John S. –
Great offset smoker/cooker for $80. After reading all of the negative reviews about smoke leaks, thin metal. etc., I figured that a cooker this size with a weight of 48 pounds was not built out of flimsy metal. The smoke leaks I figured could be assembly errors.I receive the well package cooker, checked the parts against the parts list, put the assembly manual back in the box and started putting it together on a flat surface without tightening any bolts, Wheels first, smoke stack last. After compete “loose” assembly and a few taps with a rubber mallet to make sure everything was seated properly I tightened all of the hardware, I built a smokey charcoal and green wood fire in it and all of the smoke came out of the smoke stack. The assembly instruction had to have been written by a committee of mechanically challenged people.I’d consider this to be one of the better American designed, Chinese engineered / manufactured (American brand) item I’ve seen. It is too bad Char-Broil tried to make assembly easy. If you need the step by step instruction use them, but don’t tighten the hardware until it is fully assembled and upright on a level surface. The major name brand kettle grill manufacture could sure learn from Char-Bloil how to put legs on a BBQ. Yes, the one with three flimsy aluminum tubes for legs! The only mod I have planned is a removable ash pan. The ash area as designed is only deep enough four about a four hour use before the ashes block the air flow to the bottom of the charcoal and there is no way to clean during burn4/30/17 UPDATE I added 2.5″D X 5″W X 9″L (bread) pan on rails for easy cleaning, a nibbling tool sure came in handy to make a 4″ X 8″ opening in the bottom of the firebox. Lots of ash from charcoal & dry Sugar Maple. (smoke is to be tasted, not seen) It’s a SMOKER, not a SMOGGER.5/20/17 UPDATE After a month and three pork tender loins and four racks of center cut ribs I’m hooked on “low & slow” cooking with or without smoke. Cave man discover that the only use for smoke was to keep insects away from their food during the drying phase of food curing.
Jennifer M. Stpierre –
I bought this when it was less than $80 and felt like I got a steal! We have a large propane grill and wanted something small that uses charcoal for that great flavor. The smoker is an added bonus.
Shedra21 –
It began to rust almost immediately. However for the price. It will serve its purpose.

My Grill arrived the other day and I was excited it came in and while I was almost done putting it together the bottom barrel was bent which made it difficult to put the locking pins in place it was off by a half inch other than that I’m was satisfied with my purchase

I have had a Great time cooking out on this for Friends and Family alike. And it was the best price I found in the area I live in. Next closest price was $50.00 more.
Latimers –
It’s a good little BBQ/smoker for the money…probably one of the best you can buy (for the money) Easy to assemble took wife and me only about an hour. Used it the first night and worked as expected.
j mullens –
Just as described. We are pleased with the grill. Size is fine. Works well. Would buy again and recommend to all.
LEAH –
It’s a littler smaller than I expected but other than that I love this product, especially for the price!!
AN –
It’s an okay grill but I would spend a but more money on one with better quality. It’s small, so it’s only good for cooking for up to 7 or 8 people max. My grill came soaked in oil and some parts were actually rusted. I bought it as a gift for someone but it looked so horrible I couldn’t give it and ended up keeping it for myself as I didn’t have time to return it. The distance between the coals and the grill bars are also very shallow and some of my meat ended up being scorched due to the flames – I adjusted the coals and it helped but it’s just an additional inconvenience to a grill that’s already less than. The smoker drum is so tiny it’s not even worth using.
Brian A. –
Grill is small and way too shallow. The coals are way too close to the grill grate with no way of adjusting it. I sold it and don’t want another.
Franklin Curtismore –
This smoker’s potential appeal is its ultimate downfall. It’s just too damn small. It’s tiny stature puts the firebox so close to the cooking surface that the left side of the smoker is unusable. The grate on the right-hand side has room for a small ham, a small chicken, or 1/2 rack of ribs… Oh, and that’s “or,” a small chicken, not “and” a small chicken. So… If you’re smokin’ solo, this is perfect! Otherwise… Not so much.I’ve burned chunks and split hickory in the smoker, and the chunks work better. However, under both circumstances it was difficult to keep the temperature consistent and in the sweet spot. I finally started the chunks in my Weber and transferred them over after they started to ash. Also of note, the small firebox fills with ash and chokes itself out after a few hours. My advice, skip this “entry-level” smoker and get the biggest one you can afford. I’m not knocking Char-Broil, but be prepared for some frustration with this smoker.
A walmsley –
Great product. Missing pieces- do not order. Had to purchase missing pieces from Charbroil website.
Aurora –
Much smaller than expected but I found out that the small size works well for a whole brisket or pork butt
RawandRawand –
It is great, I used it today to smoke a chicken, and I love it. I had no problem with the heat. I wish if I had purchased it earlier, it is offering much more than it’s price.
Bernard Poindexter –
Perfect for open houses.
courtney –
All the paint started flaking off the bottom of the smoker and grill. We had only had the grill going for about ten minutes when this started happening.
George Day –
This was purchased as a gift and arrived on time and was well recieved
MK –
Like the general design. The assembly was easy, but the parts were not cut right. The lid would not align with the base. After 2 years of use, the bottom literally burnt through and fell off.
R. Saulon –
Best for a starter smoker. May need some modifications to contain smoke. Definitely need to buy high temperature gasket tape to create a tight seal.
Christina Brinker –
This was smaller than we expected but it works great for us!
Desertsundays –
Easy to assemble, worked great. Took about an hour to assemble. great product, came fast.love it

GREAT FOR PRICE.
Robyn Poulson –
I bought this as a birthday gift for my daughter. Although it was smaller than I had anticipated, she loves it. It is a great little grill for her family of 3. And the fact that it is longer allows her to grill things like ribs.
Michael A Morganford –
The only problem with this grill so far is that the top cover of the larger barrel portion does not fit exactly flush over bottom portion. This causes a small air gap where heat and smoke does escape. It’s not much smoke loss, but it is there. I put this thing together perfectly, I really think this is a design flaw not improper assembly. The grill does still seem to function properly even with a little bit of smoke loss (I can see the smoke billowing out of the chimeny). The temperature does get up to 350-400 depending on how hot you make the fire in the firebox. Those are the temperatures I’ve achieved so far, not saying you couldnt run it higher or lower. I have not cooked anything with the grill yet as I am just seasoning it with oil and running the fire, per the instructions. All in all the grill seems ok for the price. It is sized properly for someone who just wants to grill for two or three people. This may end up being a good grill that meets that need for a decent price. But beware that there is this issue with the top half not fitting perfectly like it really should.
Logan Rustemeyer –
Cheap made own weight of lid causes it not close and bend
C. P. Schmutz –
I have had this grill for about a month & thoroughly enjoy it. The little smoker is great, the size is decent for grilling all day, and the thermometer is helpful, though it seems to be loose from the heat already. Either way, for a grill under a hundred dollars, this is great.I wish there was a handle on it since there are the wheels, but we just drag it by the smoker when it is cool. The side table is nice & convenient for cooking for two. Obviously a bigger staging area is required for bigger events.

The hinge kit was missing so I called charbroil and after a cpl different phone called they finally sent me a hinge kit free of charge , it’s pretty small but I think it will work for what I need

I have used charbroil products my entire life and never been as disappointed as I am today.I went to purchase to scroll for $100 went to finalize my purchase it had increased to 135, and if I would have known it was such a cheap quality in the great lineup poorly in the air gaps were so bad I would have sent it back.Only reason I’m not sending it back is because I took out a five year warranty so when this thing dies in two months it will be replaced..Save your money go buy a real smoker charbroil is not what it used to be.

Amazon Customer –
A little small. But great little pit for price.
ACJ –
Looks great. Good instructions.Poor machining of the metal. When following the instructions exactly, the lid on the smoking portion is canted by approximately an inch (lid won’t close unless I put a brick on it!). The chimney on the smoking section sticks up approximately 1/2″ above the lid. Overall poor quality control. If this was my only bbq pit, I’d be in real trouble.
Ginger DiazGinger Diaz –
Good little grill for the price, as many stated the build quality leaves a little to be desired. I had to drill new holes in a leg because they were off by about a 1/4 of an inch and one of the holes on the smoker didn’t line up right. I would have just returned it but it was for the 4th of July so time was not on my side. It works as intended and if it wasnt for the issues posted would be a great grill without a doubt.

Assembly was easy. The instructions said that a helper was required, but I put it together all by myself with no problems. The quality is about what I expected for an inexpensive grill. No, the metal isn’t super thick, but you don’t get heavy duty for this price. The size is just right for my patio. My first project is to smoke a 10 lb pork butt, and it looks plenty big for that plus a chicken. As I write this, I’m in the process of seasoning it as the instructions specify. If I have any problems when it comes to actually smoking meat, I’ll be sure to update my review, but for now, it’s five stars.Update: Takes a little more attention than a larger smoker would due to the small size of the firebox, meaning you have to add charcoal more often and in smaller amounts. For smoking large cuts of meat that require long (12 hours) smoke times, the firebox gets pretty full of ashes. I accidentally burned off some of the paint from the firebox because I tried putting too much charcoal in at once, so it doesn’t look quite as nice anymore. If I keep using it regularly, I’ll probably upgrade to something larger. I’m still keeping it at five stars for being good at what it is…a small, inexpensive smoker.Update 2: Downgrading my rating to four stars because after a few uses, the vent to the firebox won’t stay open on its own. I have to prop it open with a ball of aluminum foil.

To assemble this is not cool
HippieFlowerChild –
Not easy to clean, no trays or anything unlike one I saw at Home Depot for much better and only $120, pre-assembled. Assembly on this one was not too bad, but time-consuming. Would have been worth $60 to $80 for first time smokers, not what I paid.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. We’ve had it 2 weeks, used it twice and it’s already turning to crap. The paint is coming off, it’s rusting, bottom of smoker on the outside is turning colors and ruined.
Kimi Koo –
I thought this was a great buy! I had a bbq at the park, and it served me well. It’s not the biggest grill, but it’s great for a small bbq, especially for the price!
FookOff –
i found that this lil guy is very nice, one prob. and the only reason y i didnt rate it a 5 star is it has a busted tac. weld on its main lid, possibly from the shipping but who knows it works like a champ, smokes like a god, and is fairly sturdy for the price above all its the best grill, other than buying a floor standing circular grill. absolutely love it!!
Christina –
I bought this for my husband as a early Christmas present, he loves it, well we all love it! enjoy
Ralph Missell –
Don’t waste your money. You get what you pay for and this is not worth even that.
NeT –
This is a small compact smoker that will handle food enough for a couple of people or a medium brisket. The box showed up on time and in good shape. The smoker body comes in several pieces that didn’t fit well and needed some adjustments to make the chamber closer to air tight. I do like the enamel coated grills that should add to the life of the smoker.
William Booth –
Nice deal overall
WindigoTW –
I love this grill! All the negative reviews are complaints that its not large enough. I can easily cook 8+ burger patties on this at a time, or 2 racks of ribs, multiple steaks, whatever we need for 1-6 people. This thing is darn near a miniature version of what youll find in stores, stand about belly button height (im 5’10”) but its perfect for me.The paint did bubble off on the bottom side, but no one sees it except for me, because I bend over to clean up drippings, so I’m not concerned with it. It smokes excellent, and the flavor of the meat is always amazing.
mcdtc –
Easy to assemble, all components fit together perfectly! Have used twice a and both times the food came out fantastic. I researched smokers and was advised to stay away from this design, that the quality/design would allow too much smoke to exit through the seams to allow for proper cooking. Those websites are just blowing smoke. This inexpensive unit does a fine job, easy to maintain a constant temp level. I would recommend to all.
Kyle B. –
The grill itself is a good bang for the dollar. It’s a $60 smoker. However when I got it… the lid is damaged really bad and the legs are bent. I’m disappointed that it arrived that way.
Beverly Bogard –
Like the grill. Smaller than. I thought itvwas6
Dylan Eisenbarth –
All the reviews were correct. I read as many as I could before my purchase. A ton said you would need high heat silicon to fill gaps that the manufacturer didn’t seal and high heat spray paint for when your paint peels off. They were 100% correct. First night I got it I built it and ran through a 2 hour fire after rubbing down the inside and grill grates with grape seed oil to season it. After this 1st fire I had paint peeling off the firebox on both the top and bottom where either the coals landed or the fire kissed the roof as well as the door to the vent. After my 1st smoke, approx 4 hours, I had more of the paint peel in all 3 places. I bought 600° silicon and 2000° spray paint. After using both it’s a magnificent starter smoker. I’m having so much fun learning a new craft on this and the food comes out amazing. Holds heat well if it’s warm out, not great if it’s cold out. End up smoking in the garage if it’s cold. I also bought a 6 in. desk fan to blow air into the vent. Really helps control the temp properly. Decent quality metal and easy to build. I’d give it a 3.5/5

This is very cheap low end smoker….it does the job but would recommend buying a higher quality smoker…

This is a nice little grill-smoker for the price. Not difficult to assemble as long as you follow instructions. It’s not big at all so if you’re planning a large cookout, start grilling/smoking ahead. It’s big enough to fit a full rack of ribs or 8 half pound burgers. The smoker works great and ideal for slow grilling. I had my first cookout and the meat cooked perfectly! All in all it’s a great bargain! Thanks!
Strawn_house –
Havent used it yet but i purchased this grill for my husband for his birthday because he only likes to grill using wood. Weve managed to piece it together pretty easy and its definitely good quality for the price. A little smaller than i pictured it to be but i am stoked to try some smoked ribs tomorrow!

Great little grill. Perfect for a family of four, everyday grilling.
Cody w. –
Not bad for what it is, I would recommend fire rope, and heat sealant, but it’s pretty good for ribs, and small briskets, actually seems to hold temp better than expected.Update: this little smoker cooks decent and doesn’t take very much fuel to get to temp, that being said, I do not expect this to last, second cook and paint is bubbling off the fire box, I use lump coal and a chimney so there’s never really an open flame
Jim Pollum –
The price is great, and would have been an excellent grill except the exhaust tube did not fit on the top. The hole to mount it was too small and required a good bit of filing of the hole to make it big enough to fit. Since it was the last part to assemble, it was very annoying as I may have sent it back otherwise. If it were not for that, I would love the grill.
JUST HAM –
This was a purchase for another griller at Christmas and I will say he uses it constantly. He likes the smoker and the grill, and I see hime replacing this with the same unit when it can no longer function.
Temple Coffindaffer Sr. –
Not great but it does the job. I have one of these. I can do a whole brisket no problem. Two racks of ribs need to be stood up on their edges to have room. After the first use the paint will peel off the fire box, who cares your not eating the paint! Build another fire and smoke some more yummy goodness 🙂

Where do I start…..Open the box to parts wrapped in brown paper with tons of grease as if the product was used and returned back couldn’t return back because I was the day of cookout. Took me about an hour to assemble notices a couple of dents and scratches. I was very upset called into Amazon and was giving a partial refund. Overall the grill was prefect for my 3 family household
Rachel –
We purchased this item as an open box deal and were more than pleased! It’s description mentioned it having some small scratches and lucky us, they were on the bottom out of sight! We’ve used it every night this week, we’re so happy!
VIDA –
This thing is cheap made build of like paper thin material i highly doubted it will last several cookouts it will fall apart. Would be better of with Walmart 59$ charcoal grill …What a joke selling this…
hereandthere –
I was going to give it a 5 star rating for being a great beginner smoker. My first two briskets turned out fantastic. Both were 10+ hours of smoking. The paint bubbled up and flaked off from the heat. The nuts and bolts were loosening while I was opening and shutting the fire box lid. The vent to the fire box couldn’t stay open, so we had to tie a wire to the vent to keep it open. The metal started to warp a little creating tons of leaks. But, none of that really bothered me too much because I bought this smoker for $69.95 here. When I came back to see it selling for $139.95, I couldn’t give it more than 3 stars. It’s only ok for that much money. It’ll get the job done if you stay by the fire and feed it more fuel as it leaks away your heat. The longest I could stay away from the fire box was 15 min before needing to add more fuel. I think I’ll get a max of 12 smokes with it.
Amazon Customer –
I have no issues with putting together anything with several pieces, but this grill was by far the worse. The screws where every where in the box, the metal was bent. After getting it put together I wanted to send it back. Let alone the shipping was a headache. The grill cover that was suggested for this grill did not stay on he grill. No straps to keep it in place. I came outside the wind blew it in the tree.. so that’s going back.
Tina –
Perfect for my husband and myself
LMH –
Nice little grill. It is small, but I can grill 6-8 burgers on it and it gets the job done. Also, it took a bit more effort than I expected to assemble.
PreciousCargo –
I’m somewhat satisfied with this. It’s rather short. Also with hot charcoal in the pit after a bbq smoking session, the paint peeled on the side box after 1 use! Wouldn’t pay a penny more than I did for it though.
Stacey –
This item is great my sons put it together and they thought it was difficult bit over all when we used it the food was outstanding
Katherine –
If you guy this get a cover. It will rust. But it does its job.
jgb_215 –
Best little smoker I have ever used. I have used several smaller and non-commercial smokers and this one is great for it’s size. If you don’t need a big smoker I highly recommend this one
sue grifin –
Easy to put together in a couple hours by myself – no missing parts. Tempered the smoker then began smoking – works great with patience and practice – use wisely and you’ll be pleased. It’s not a professional model – if you want a greater surface area and thicker steel, break out your wallet but for occasional smoking, this is great. Smoked salmon is delish!!
Rodney D Turner –
Great item for a low price! Basaically was a steal!I entertained about 30-40 guests on this unit! with enough chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers and 1 slab of ribs for all!
Chris –
First, you do get what you pay for! This is not at all a big smoker, however it is great for the entry level! As I write this, I am using my smoker for the 3rd time and I’ve only had it for a week! I have not had any paint peel (yet). The thermometer is not the greatest, I have already replaced with a better one. I do recommend seasoning the entire grill before your 1st light! (Vegetable oil only!) Adjusting the heat to where you want, is not difficult but does take a little time and finesse.Assembly was not bad at all, it took about 30-40 minutes with just a few simple tools! My 1st smoker arrived damaged. (My first attempt at a review discussed that more in depth, but amazon wouldnt allow it.) However after talking with customer service they expedited a replacement and it arrived the next day in great condition! If it wasn’t for the great experience I had with the young lady from amazon’s customer service I would not have replaced it, and would have just got a refund! For that I will definately continue to purchase through Amazon!
P. Zeller –
This is really a great value. I use it as a charcoal grill mostly, but obviously it can be used as a smoker as well. My biggest bits of advice for making it last:-Put a cover on it. This isn’t particularly well made, and a bit of rain will accelerate its wear process.-Season it with oil regularly. This will help the metal parts resist corrosion.
Lab owner –
Works well although temp control can be difficult. Have to babysit your meat all day. But results are good!
Glow10 –
small, good price and works sufficiently

Easy to put together..holds smoke well, grill box got to hot after just 2 uses..smokebox starting to reach steel coat melted through…good grill tho..
Charles reed –
Total piece of junk. Put it together, noticed the thermometer was already stuck at a elevated temp. Did the first fire to season it and burn off all the oil. Well the paint fell off. It was a small fire. About half of what is used to smoke a chicken. Save your money. This is trash.

There’s is a nice grill but you better have a hammer ready. Some parts of the grill were bent from the box and the when you closed it it didn’t properly align. Had to hammer it in. It took about an hour to get it ready but overall i am pleased with the grill. Its a good size and I can’t wait to start using it. The Side grill is okay size as well, you could fill it up with about 4 burgers at a time.

Love the grill/ smoker. Only thing is is that one of the handles can defective without threads.

Bought this last minute to cook food for 10 people at my house. Made nearly 10 pounds of food on it. Much better than the small circle pits I was buying. Setup was pretty easy. Instructions were easy to follow. Helps having a second set of hands for certain parts though.

Best Grill I’ve ever had. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to put it together (alone) but directions easy. Seasoned it after looking at video’s on line, have cooked out on it and food tasted great, with a rich smoky flavor. Absolutely love this grill.

Exactly what I ordered and shipped FAST.Works great. This one is the smallest of the off-set smokers that I’ve found and perfect for my needs.
Will –
This little grill is a swiss army knife! You can smoke while you grill, grill while you smoke, or just use all sections as grills and get a little more cooking space than a Weber! Easy enough to assemble, and for some reason mine came with a replacement thermometer too (I don’t think that’s a standard feature)!
greyhoundtom –
This is a small grill. It works perfectly for me and my fiancee. The company shipped it quickly and it was easy to assemble. I don’t need a lot coals to cook or smoke on this grill and it retains heat very well. Using the smoke stack and the side louver I can make it hotter or colder for smoking or grilling and it is very responsive.

We smoke once a week. Love it!

Assembly required pretty easy. Its a little on the small side but works like a charm.its got a nice little fire box and wow! It smokes like a train.

I LOVE IT!!!! ITS EVERYTHING I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE….

Works great puts together easy and under 100 dollors what do you want.
Brittany –
I love to grill and my recent grill had started to get worn out so I purchased this one. It took 3 hours to cook hamburgers!! It has never taken that long to cook hamburgers! and even when my daughter bit into her hamburger it wasn’t done all the way in the middle! So technically it would have taken longer than 3 hours! It didn’t hold up to the temperature to even cook a meal correctly! Not worth $100. The last grill I bought that got worn out I bought from Walmart and it was $100 and lasted me at least 2 years. I should have just gotten another one of those instead of trying something new that i thought would work.

Works perfect…..was better than expected, the offset smoker works great was so glad I went with this one! Highly recommend.

Great pit can’t beat the price

Excellent smoker for the price. Plenty of cooking space and the side firebox is large enough to do some good smoking.

I love it! Assembly was easy. It’s huge! Excellent value! Can’t wait to use it!
Fred Argenton –
good little smoker. I used it for beef jerky and smoked salmon. Keeps the temperature the way you want it. I am going to smoke a brisket tomorrow 🙂 it is marinating at the moment ;)I would recommend this product

Great smoker for the price.

I got this for my son for Christmas & he loves it.

You so get what you pay for! This is not the smoker you would buy if you want to use more than 4 times. This smoker was bought as a gift for my husband. If I could I would returning! The smoker doesn’t hold heat, the paint started peeling leaks smoke which is important in the smoking process. Very disappointed with this item! If you are looking for a smoker that holds temperature and sturdy- don’t buy this one!!
Krystal B –
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. If and only if you plan on assembling correctly, and I mean, using high heat silicone on EVERY connecting part, and using a bbq gasket on ALL opening doors you have a heck of a smoker at almost no cost. If you don’t take the time and small Investment in doing it right, don’t waste your money.Perfect, of course not but I’ve done ribs, roasts, chicken, You name it, from 215 degrees all the way to a stable 350 degrees. If you know how to manage a fire this is a killer little grill for the price. The temp spikes fast and cools down faster, so don’t expect a set it and forget it grill, but a great way to learn fire management and how to smoke on a offset without investing to much.
jo ellen clements –
Wa expecting it to be bigger. Way to small for our needs
Logan Carr –
Works great. We’ve cooked lots of good food on it.

I received my smoker yesterday and couldn’t wait to put it together. I took some time, but I had no issues putting it together according to the instructions. I had no gaps whatsoever in between the top lid and bottom chamber, I just made sure when I tightened the hinge brackets I aligned them as close to the edges of the top lid and bottom chamber as possible. It seems pretty solid, not flimsy at all. It’s a perfect size for a family of 4 or less, unless you have NFL linebackers for kids. I fired it up last night after I got it all put together and smoked a chicken that I split into halves. For my first time ever using a charcoal / wood side chamber smoker, the chicken came out perfect and delicious! I also ordered the Weber “Rapidfire*” charcoal chimney starter to pre-light the coals. I bought B & B Texas style oak charcoal briquettes and Western brand Mesquite hardwood chunks at my local Academy sporting goods store for the cooking process . Everything worked like a charm! I even fell asleep on the couch and woke up to find that the coals and wood had all burned down to ash and the smoker was just barely warm, but the chicken still came out wonderful and yummy! I have nothing negative to say about this smoker, it worked great and no other product can compare to the quality of this smoker for the price of only $69 dollars and some change. Maybe an EL CHEAPO product that will rust out and fall apart in less than six months.
Wells Bengston –
Initial Review; This is my first smoker, and I’ve only cured it and used it one time. I’m afraid I jumped on this due to the price, before I had researched smokers. This is rare for me, but I was mainly looking for something with more flexibility than my Son of Hibachi. The Son of Hibachi is great for grilling, but I wanted to do some smoking as well, with the ability to also grill larger quantities than the Hibachi will handle..What I have found, is that this smoker has all of the short-comings of typical off-set smokers, and that all of those short-comings are made worse by small size and relatively thin metal.I cured it, as per the directions on page 3 of the manual, using charcoal in the firebox. I then added more charcoal, and rolled right into smoking some boneless chicken thighs, a pork roast, and a tri-tip. I used a mixture of hickory and cherry chunks. I put two 8×8 aluminum pans underneath the grills, and a 4×8 loaf pan as well, to catch drippings.I found that, with charcoal, I was having trouble getting the temperature up on the grill. I found that the grill temperature, right underneath the thermometer, was much lower than the temperature indicated on the thermometer. 300 on the thermometer resulted in 200 at the grill surface. I found that the area next to the firebox cooked very quickly, cooked more like grilling than smoking, while the area opposite the firebox remains pretty cool, to the point I could touch the grills. Until I pushed the temperature to 350 with a resulting 225-250 at the grill, the food in the middle did not cook.I wound up relying solely on wood to keep the heat up, and had no issues with temperatures being too low once I did this. Due to the small size of the wood chucks I was using, I wound up having to use a lot more wood than I expected. After a couple of hours of this, I wound up with perfectly cooked chicken thighs, but the other meat had an interior temp of only 120F. If I had had more time, I would have continued smoking and eventually gotten the tri-tip and roast up to temp, but instead, I put the remaining meat in the oven and finished it that way.All of the meat turned out delicious. The roast and tri-tip had very nice smoke-rings. I was very pleased with the way the food turned out.If I did not plan to try some modifications, I think I would use mainly charcoal for fuel, and put some charcoal in the smoker chamber to bring temps up in the far end.My plan is to try putting a baffle in, mainly to shield the food from the direct heat of the firebox, but also to move the heat entry point more toward the middle of the smoker area. I also plan to extend the smoker chimney down closer to the grill, to force the smoke down there. I also plan to find a basket so I can use the Minion Method of fueling the smoker. I feel that these additions will greatly aid the ease of use of the smoker.I do wish Char-Broil would cure the paint in-house. I feel it is impossible to cure the paint at home from the inside nearly as well as could be done in an oven big enough to hold the parts. I feel that curing issues are a large part of the paint complaints received.I’m not sure that, had I done more research, that I would still buy this smoker, but for the money, I feel it is worthwhile.Update;I have since smoked a 4 lb pork shoulder and smoked and grilled some burgers. To smoke the pork shoulder, I took two disposable bread-loaf pans, of the 4×8 variety, punched holes in them for ventilation, and loaded each with charcoal. I tilted the pans and laid the charcoal on it’s side in a sort of chevron pattern. I then put another layer of charcoal on top of that in the same pattern.I also cut 3/4 of the bottom out of a mini-loaf pan of the 3×6 variety, and bent the flap of remaining material up to extend the heat shield/baffle. I then put the loaf pan in the hole between the fire-box and smoker chamber with the flap portion up, and expanded the pan to lodge in the opening. This made a nice baffle and heat shield.I then put the two pans in the smoker and lit one end of the briquettes using a blow torch. I lit the 4 briquettes on top at the end closest to the smoker chamber, so the flame had to work back toward the vent. After those briquettes were well lit, and the temperature started coming up in the smoker chamber, I put the un-seasoned pork shoulder in the middle of the smoker, over a foil pan to catch the drippings. I put some cherry wood on the lit briquettes as well as the unlit ones, and let the meat smoke. After about 30 to 45 minutes, all of the briquettes in the pan were lit, and I had to use the air register to keep the heat down. Occasionally I would put a couple of pieces of wood on the briquettes to keep the smoke going. Occasionally I would put a chunk of hickory in, but the smoke was mainly from cherry. With this method, after 3 hours of smoking, the charcoal was still going. I would have left the meat in the smoker, but it was bed time, so I put the pork shoulder in a slow cooker on low while I slept. I put a half cup of water in as well as the drippings from the pork. The next morning, the pork shoulder was fork tender and was easily pulled apart. I had some for breakfast, gave some to a friend to try, and had some more for supper. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. It was hard to believe the flavor was only smoke and natural pork juices. My friend raved about it.For the burgers, I just put about 30 briquettes in the firebox, lit them, and when fully lit, spread them out and put 8 seasoned patties in the smoker chamber. I smoked the patties using mainly cherry with some hickory, for about 30 minutes. The patties closest to the firebox needed to be flipped at 15 minutes, and were pretty much done at 30. I finished grilling them in the firebox grill, and then grilled all the rest of the patties in turn in the firebox, returning them to the smoker to keep them warm when they were finished. These burgers turned out fabulously!Update2;I smoked a brisket this weekend. This time, I made two additions to my smoker. The first is a Maverick Et 733 Wireless BBQ Meat Thermometer. This lets me see the actual temperature the meat is seeing, as well as the meat internal temp, without having to constantly go out to the smoker. This is a must have item, no matter what smoker you use.I am very much enjoying this purchase. The second was a FDS-875 Stainless Steel Floor Drain Strainer. This is a perforated pan that fits into the firebox and allows one to put a lot more charcoal in for 4 hours worth of heat. It also makes cleanup easier. I have put a photograph of it in the customer images section. I purchased this off of ebay for $20.I have settled on a method of smoking large cuts of meat, where I smoke the meat until the heat dies off, and then put it in a slow-cooker to finish it. This has worked great for pork shoulder and brisket.
Austin Brusen –
It was PERFECT if I had read the specs prior…lol. My fault. Gave it to my neighbor because it was smaller than I thought.
Chris –
You get what you pay for. For $90 this is a good smoker. Add maybe $25 worth of modifications and you’d have yourself a beast. Thermometer sucks, gonna add a new one. Add on some high temperature silicone to the seams and temperature control should be a top notch.Smoked chicken wings last night. Fit 40 on the cooking surface no problem. Two racks of ribs or maybe even three whole chickens would be a breeze. Like I said, temp control was a little rough but all in all good grill for the price.

Meat be so tender and smoke taste but I need two or a bigger one but for a family of four it’s ok got big family you be cooking all day I give it a 9 out of ten

Purchased this for my father in law for Christmas and he is in love. So far it works perfectly and it was really easy to put together. The price was awesome too! I will probably get one for my husband for Valentine’s Day 🙂

For the price, you cannot beat the value. Not perfect. Had to modify the cover a little bit so that it would seal better and keep in the heat but overall it is a great little smoker. Definitely perfect for a beginner who is just looking to get into smoking different foods.
Matt M –
It works. Quality is iffy, but for someone who only smokes once every couple weeks, this works just fine. Like others, the paint on the burn box started flaking after the first use. Also, I wouldn’t trust the thermometer for anything.

Issue 1: Can’t be assembled properly – The screw holes in the basin do not align with the legs. They are also drilled on a diagonal and cannot be tightened. – This is the reason we returned it, since it was impossible to set up and useIssue 2: Impossibly small – I expected a small grill, but what we received was ridiculously tiny. Not only is it too small to fit more than 6 burger patties, but its too shallow to fit enough charcoal or wood chips to last long enough to grill anything. – My husband called it the “easy bake oven of grills” because it was so small it was almost child sized. – If this micro grill could have been assembled, we probably would have kept it, but alas we couldnt even get the damned thing together.A few pros: – Very heavy (may be a con for some people). Heavy should imply good quality – May be portable for tailgates since it is so tiny. But only if there are 4 people at your tailgate and no one is that hungry – great price. Can’t beat the price, but you get what you pay for. – Would be great for a teenager looking to learn to grill/smoke as a “mini version of dad’s grill”

I love it! I have not been able to cook out for a long time because of physical issues that have been resolved and I needed a new grill. I have always wanted one like this and I am so excited! Grilling is so enjoyable again and I have used it 4 times already!

Bought for my Son for his Birthday. He and his wife use it regularly and love it.

I ordered this twice. Both came damaged (lid was bent). I ordered this 6 years ago and the steel was strong and sturdy. This one is flimsy. It’s the same manufacturer. I just think they’re getting cheap with the materials.
Robert Aho –
Like other reviewers have noted, this is not a top of the line grill. However, you will not find anything better for the price! In order to maintain adequate heat, I purchased some thin ceramic grill plates (with holes drilled in them for ventilation) and placed them on top of the steel grate in the firebox. Then, I add a small amount of wood lump charcoal and heap wood pellets on top of that. I use a propane torch to get the fire started, and then it’s grilling time! Wood pellets are the least expensive and best way that I have found to keep the temperature up and create the smoky flavor I want.
p928gts1 –
good starter grill but you will want something bigger
JessicaJessica –
So many problems bent in so many places. Lid doesn’t even sit right on the bottom. Smoke stack doesn’t line up very unsatisfied.
Jackie Gooch –
Considering the price I was really surprised at the quality of this. It is a lot more solid than I was expecting. I tried it without food first just to practice. Temp was very easy to control and the cooking part can get hot enough for grilling if you want it to.Tested the thermometer in boiling water and it seemed to be accurate. Highly recommend this for entry level smoking or if you do not need a large smoker which is my case.
Carolyn Braxton Walker –
I have not used it yet but it looks great

This grill is a bit small but it works well.

This smoker was a present to our son. He is very pleased with the smoker and uses it frequently. We, and his friends and neighbors enjoy being taste-testers!
Amazon Customer –
Love this BBQ grill. Great price and quick delivery. Just in time for outdoor life after a long winter! Our last grill of the same brand lasted 10 years. Food turned out perfectly and no fuss or issues. Highly recommend.
Justin Co –
Easy to assemble but it had missing nuts for the handles so I had to buy extra ones. After its first use, the paint on the firebox cracked and is chipping away. Rust is also forming on the hinges and the screws. This smoker is very small so if you are looking for a standard size smoker, spend a little extra and get a bigger and more reliable model. Im disappointed as char broil is well known for their charcoal and gas grills but failed miserably with their smoker products.
DeadlyWhispers00 –
Grill works great. It is a little small, but I am a large person. Smoke leaks every where but the food still comes out great. For the price, works as expected.
Sushimoe –
I bought this because I didn’t want to just grill, I wanted to smoke as well. I spent hours reading reviews from other Amazon users about this off-set smoker and there were mixed reviews, some with strong buyer’s remorse. I didn’t want to spend money on an item like this if it would end up in the trash in less than a year. I researched it at other online stores too, read their reviews, and kept an eye on the price. When it went on sale on Amazon prime day, I jumped on the deal and bought it.I’ve used it 4 times now, three times for smoking and one time for grilling. Contrary to other reviews, I did not have a problem with paint peeling off the firebox. Just follow the directions and try not to build a huge fire the first time when you’re seasoning the grill. I wiped down the grill with vegetable oil, built a small fire, and kept it roasting empty for about 3 hours and it was ready to go. Assembly was easy, but what I will say is that mine arrived with a small dent on the lid, which doesn’t hurt the cooking, but it’s an eyesore to look at.For grilling, it does a great job. The coals are close to the cooking grate so there’s plenty of heat for the food. Not much else to say here other than it works as expected.I knocked a star off my rating because for smoking, as others have mentioned, it’s very difficult to control the temperature. A lot of heat is wasted, and the heat that is trapped does not distribute well. The meat closest to the firebox will char meanwhile the meat on the other end will look untouched. You have to open the lid to shuffle the meat around and when you do that, a lot of heat is lost. Also, you have to add coals about every 30 minutes to keep the heat up because not a lot can fit into the firebox. I used a lot of charcoal just to roast small amounts of food. The food turned out good, but it was a lot of work.Overall, I’m happy with the purchase, but I see myself using it more as a grill than a smoker.
Ronnie Nellon –
Great smoker/grill.

Slightly small but does the trick
sid 1 –
Took me a little time to figure out the smoker, since the directions are not clear. But I love it!
Kassandra Booth –
Not bad for a small starter smoker grill. The paint peeled even after we seasoned it with a small fire. It’s somewhat hard to regulate the fire and keep the temp to a certain temp. But overall if you are just needing a small, compact bbq grill that is expensive, this isn’t bad for the price.

C. Combs –
It arrived bent up/warped a good bit. The smoke box itself had screw holes that were over an inch out of alignment. I was able to put a screw in, then bend it around to get the next screw in, etc all around. It does have 8 screws there, so the finished bit doesn’t look terrible, but be prepared to do a lot of work putting pressure on areas to get the screws to line up.The lid itself was bent so badly it wouldn’t shut on the corner. But the metal is thin enough that I was able to get a decent match up bending it back. The bend/dent on the front of the main barrell was the toughest to bend back, it’s still not perfect, but close enough.I’m currently trying to find something to use as an ash tray, as currently I have to to scoop the ashes out when I’m done. And apparently, they couldn’t spring for a tin can to use for a drip can.Still working on getting the temperatures down and having the right kind of smoke. Mine likes to run hot it seems. Only done a seasoning run so far, going to try a 1 hour chicken cook to start and see how it does.I gave it 3 stars only because it was $67, but you get what you pay for. It’s not very big, has the problems I mentioned above, but don’t expect anything more than something that technically works.

Great grill and smoker for the price. Easy to set up and use!

We are so excited to use our new smoker. However, when putting it together it said “remove wing nut from thermometer”. There was no wing nut on it, and it does not fit snuggly in the hole of the hood. Was disappointed as now we have to find a new thermometer.
Danny Hitchcox –
Good product for the price.
RW –
Great little smoker! Does have a few gaps in it following assembly, allowing smoke and heat to escape. Easily fixed with high temperature silicone around outside edges.
Leighton Paris –
I bought this smoker with the intention of learning how to smoke meats. I read the mixed reviews and decided to go ahead to buy it. I knew off the bat that I would have to modify it a bit but I don’t mind tinkering around and for the price, it was a fun little project. After I assembled it, I noticed that there were gaps around the lids and around the base of the smoke stack. I did a seasoning run and determined all the spots to be sealed up. I went ahead and purchased a high temp gasket kit (about $25) and sealed off the lids to the fire box and main smoking chamber as well as put a nice seal around the base of the stack. I also got my hands on an aluminum sheet and fashioned a damper and extended the smoke stack into the smoking chamber. My first attempt at smoking was a rack of pork ribs. They came out great! Since then I’ve done wings and made bacon, both successful. I know most die hard bbq folk out there would thumb their collective noses over using this product, but if you’re just getting your feet wet and want to just play around and experiment a bit, by all means give this a shot. The metal is pretty thin and I’ve already got a bit of rust on the fire box lid, though admittedly, I did not have a cover for it for the first few weeks (my father has made one for me). Other than the rust, which can be remedied, I think it was a nice investment. One day I will have enough money and time to maybe build or buy a better quality smoker but for now, this will do. I read some of the more negative reviews and I honestly don’t get what people were expecting for the price compared to the more high end smokers out there.4 / 5 since it could use some modification and I really enjoy using this product.
A.G. –
Don t buy. Paint came off with a horrible smell on second bbq. got rusty and discolored within two month (even though kept inside and cleaned). Very small area for burning.

I love it no sauce needed
Average Joe –
It was a cheap smoker/grill combo and I really wanted this for my birthday. I order while it was out of stock and Amazon got it to me 3 days later in Hawaii! The shipping probably cost near as much as the grill! It is cheaply made metal and will rust faster than a Weber or other high end model. The lids don’t seal properly like a real smoker but they don’t let too much out at the same time either. We have used it as a grill and smoker and for the price ~$58 I cannot complain. Worst part of it all is there is not a lot to do with the leftover ashes so I scoop them out with a cup.
liftedTahoe –
this is a great grill and i have used it quite often in the summer as well as a couple times in the winter. it has held up very well for the past 2 years and has not shown any rust. the only problem is that after i bought it from Amazon i found it cheaper at Walmart for $25 cheaper.
bobbybobby –
This is definitely a get what you pay for, or less. When assembling it, parts were bent and the material it’s made of is very thin and easily bent. I would return, but I don’t want to take it back apart. DON’T RECOMMEND BUYING THIS SMOKER! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!
RM –
For the money this unit isn’t bad. I have a 10 ft trailer smoker, but just wanted something to be able to cook a butt or a rack of ribs without using my big rig. Unit is fine, just get a cover for it and when you light it for the first time just keep the temp around 250 for a few hrs it will season nicely, and it cooks fine. The fire box lost a little paint cause it gets real hot. Just touch it up and spray the screws once in a while with oil, the rest of the unit is fine.
MissRian –
This product is a knockoff! You cannot use it they painted it and all it does is toxically burn the paint off. Its not useable!

I have only used once, but considering the price, it’s fine. I expect the quality of the product to improve once I get used to it.

This is an excellent product that is bound to please! It arrived on time and as promised without any problems. Putting the item together was rather simple and stress-free! It took my nephew about an hour to put the item together–he did not have any problems. You guys are the best! I love shopping at Amazon.com and pretty much, I don’t shop too much more in the stores. This awesome bar-b-que is what I used to smoke meat on superbowl Sunday. It rocked! I love it and would recommend it to anyone. It’s the perfect size for what I need.

Should’ve saved my money. The lid is bent so it’s a hassle opening it the hinges are thin and flimsy. And it doesn’t maintain heat very well.

It was a little smaller than I expected but works well. Nice little smoker for the money.

This is a fantastic starter smoker. I made some smoke pork ribs that came out absolutely perfect. It is a little difficult to keep the temp at 250 degrees but with practice I am sure I will be able to perfect it. Well worth it for the price if you have a small family. I also did a 10 pounds brisket on it and it fits just right. The paint will peel the first use, but that’s not a big deal for me.

Perfect for my little patio. Perfect in the diff ways I can cook on it

When we received the product it was covered in some sort of sticky substance including the box and a bit rusty on the inside. We were disappointed to see this considering it was purchased as a brand new product. It also has to be completely assembled.
Tom Warner –
Great little grill. Followed instructions on “seasoning” the grill. Have had no rust issues. I applied some food grade hi-temp silicon sealant along all the seams, and used the nomex replacement gasketing material. Smokes like a champ! No leaks, and it was fun to put together.

All around great grill smoker and all. Only thing I didn’t like it’s I had to bend the smoker part back because our was bent alittle from the factory. Other thn that it’s great.
some1else –
Is well-made for the money and is therefore an excellent value, but not nearly as heavy as what I would “like” to have. But overall, it surpassed my expectations by quite a bit!!
Victor –
Dislike !!!It’s ridiculous not to send the fat collection can! I never buy Char-Broil again.worse was when I got in touch by phone and aChar-Broil said that there is no grease can and there is no way for me to buy it. Ridiculous
Kenny Brooks –
Small but MIGHTY! Guaranteed to grill smoke and cook to perfection each and overtime. You get both a smoke box and a grill area for direct and indirect heat. An awesome grill / smoker for small spaces.
David –
It does what it’s supposed to but I wish I had spent more to get a bigger one. I really didn’t realize how small it is, that is my bad. It appears to be of decent construction. The smoker box is kind of small so if you are smoking anything very big, you’ll have to clean the box out numerous times. The vent for the box doesn’t like staying open by itself, so you really have to watch it.
Melissa McVicar –
Awesome grill for an awesome price, and the cover made for it fits perfect, have had it all summer and is still outside and I live in New York and no rust, will be putting it away though, even the smoker aspect of it works great, food tastes awesome and heats up pretty evenly and quickly but then again it also depends on your charcoal, but it traps it just right! Perfect med steaks with red in the middle everytime on it!
John Gabbard –
I read several reviews before purchasing this smoker and used them (both good and bad) to help make my decision.First off, delivery rocked. It arrived a day early and was in great shape.Assembly: I’m always leery when comes to things that I have to assemble. It’s not that I’m not capable of putting things together, it’s generally that the instructions are so bad that I end up pulling my hair out. Not in this case though. The instructions were easy to read and the parts were all packaged and labeled very nicely. The unit is fairly heavy, and while one person could do this, two people makes it a bit easier. All in all, it took about 30 minutes to assemble.Quality: Is this grill high end top quality? No,but considering it only cost me $69 dollars, it’s quality is definitely on par with what I paid and it’s pretty solid for being a low end smoker/grill.Performance: I’ve only cooked two things in it so far. A couple of rib eye steaks and some salmon. Both turned out awesome. Being a charcoal grill, getting the temperature and smoke levels where I want them will take some experimentation, but for my first few efforts I didn’t do half bad. It’s not near the nightmare that others make it out to be.Bottom Line: If you’re looking for something high end, spend some money and get something different. If you’re looking for a decent smoker/grill, the price/quality/value ratio of this one is hard to beat.
PAULETTE’S H. –
I haven’t assembled it from the box yet, but this is the grill I wanted. It is heavyweight which means it won’t blow over in the fierce Michigan winds.
ISO1600 –
For $59 it can’t be beat. Flimsy and a pain in the butt to assemble, but works just fine. I’ll eventually get another heavy gauge smoker, but this will work for now.
Luke-carl. –
Literally rusted to pieces in 3 years time.To be fair it was outside with no rain protection.
AK –
Pretty good for the cost. Material is thin and has some leaks so temp control is a little challenging. Plenty of mods you can do to this smoker work better. I’m happy with it for $70.
dee Kelly –
Great grill. It’s smaller but still functional. I can cook 4 homemade and 6 bone-in thighs on the racks and a whole chicken ( cut in half)in the smoker part. Good eats. Hope this helps.
kcgentz –
The hotbox on the side lasted me two seasons and it rusted out…. this is after keeping it covered on my back porch.
SN May –
Very very small typical Amazon item, appears larger then actual. Pay attention to the dimensions. Not sealed well. Would reccomend spending a little more money and getting somthing better. You know from the price not to exspect to much from this smoker. But it falls short of even that exspectation
Ben Huck –
I read many reviews prior to ordering this smoker/grill. I knew I was getting a lower quality item at a value price. But it still underwhelmed my expectations. Don’t buy this as a long term grill solution.
teresa –
Gave it to my son he loved it
Renee –
Nice grill…perfect for your cookout needs.
Willy –
The product came damaged as the soldering was poor at the base of the smoker. Of course we didn’t realize this till we put it all together. However the customer service at Char-broil was quick to replace it. Unfortunately the replacement was only slightly better . It was cheap but will easily throw away when it rusts. I’ve spent a few hundred on smokers and they rust just the same in this Texas humidity.Update, the part where you put the wood after one use, the paint came off. They sent me another one. I lowered the review to 2 stars as I would have just wanted my money back.
mamap –
A very great grill.
@karknowz –
I have been cooking all day fire
is nice cook slow
Antoinette –
I love this little itty bitty baby bar-b-que with smoking box! Do not be mistaken, it is small. What do you expect for $60 some odd dollars? It went together much easier than one I paid a lot more for a few years ago. I will probably be able to smoke a whole brisket, a few racks of ribs or a couple of chickens. Controlling the temperature will be a bit tricky with its size. We have used it twice in so many days and are very happy!
grina abrams –
used it for the first time I love it
Katie –
Only took an idiot who can’t even put together shelves about an hour to put together this grill! My fiance loves it, and I’m thrilled that I was actually able to build it so that he could get started using it as soon as I gave it to him!
Angela –
Perfect for my fiancé for Christmas! He loves it!

Exactly what I expected

I bought this for my husband for a Christmas gift. i was a little Iffy because i paid $71.00 for it. It is well worth the price. He lobes it so much and it is great quality. I reccommend this product to anyone who is interested in smoking.
Stephanie –
Good for the price and easy to assemble
Andrea Luetkemeyer –
This is significantly smaller than what it seems.
Rut42 –
Very nice grill….even in snow!
Jay KayJay Kay –
Very small for this price! I would not recommend unless u want a baby grill.
Eugenia Drye –
Hubby assembled it quickly. For an item that was used, it arrived on time and expertly packed. It must have been an open box item that was returned. Amazon deliverer took time to obscure it on our porch. So awesome of her to go the extra mile!It is great quality and size for the price. It is not the large size you see in stores but plenty large enough for chicken, turkey/veggie burgers and chicken hot dogs for a party of 20. Our daughter’s birthday party was a hit because of this little jewel.

Smaller than expected but a great grill, my baby is real happy with it, he loves the smoker! Great deal! Thank you x

My husband loves it! You can’t beat it for the price. We live in a townhouse, so it’s easily movable between the garage and the driveway/side yard. There’s plenty of room to cook everything we’ve tried! It was easily assembled (by my husband) and came just as shown in the pictures!

A quick little description as to what I purchased this smoker for. I bought it so I would have a light grill that was big enough for a 12lb Beef Brisket. I wanted to take it camping with tons of family and friends. We spent about 5 days out at Sutton in Alaska, camping, riding, shooting, and watching people swim in a lake that resembles sewage… Off track, any how it worked pretty good. Because its small I was able to keep the temp at 260 for about 11 hours. Either the Brisket or the Grill were made for the other as the Brisket fit perfectly on the grill. The brisket came great. Its a very simple set up. It comes with about 50 screws and may feel intimidating when trying to set up, but it is relatively simple. Took myself about 40 minutes to assemble it. But I recommend grabbing a sponge, a little dish soap, and olive oil. Mine came with a thick goopy grease on the lid and a few other parts. Mainly found on the inside of the smoker and the inside of the lid. I recommend cleaning out the grease as it smelled like spoiled oil on a cast iron pan. And then with just a dab of oil on a cloth or paper towel and just rub all the metal parts. Go over again with a clean dry cloth to soak up excess. Same procedure to cleaning & seasoning a cast iron pan. Then just do a good burn in the grill for about an hour at about 350. The Grill says it will go to 400, but the paint will start to burn off the grill if you reach the top temp. So watch your heat, smoking food is good, painting it is not.The temp gauge maxes to 400 and it heats up pretty quick. The grates are a very simple teflon coated steel. I would personally prefer a cast iron grate, or even stainless. I am worried at scarring the coating and then having it release little by little into foods. I am working on finding a suitable replacement grates. The Grill is simple cheap, light, works well enough. Defiantly not a commercial grade grill, but simple for a small family, or a practicing chef looking to work on their grill skills or smoking flavors. I would recommend this to a beginning smoker, or someone looking for a cheap grill. I prefer the old cast iron barrel grills, but they are much heavier and sturdier. They also hold their heat much better than this thin metal one. But for under 75 bucks, you can’t complain. Especially with a small smoke box.I gave this three stars because of the goop I found in the grill, the paint burning off at 400* but it was easy to set up, light, portable, and half the legs are removable with 4 bolts and it sits in the back of my f150 and its about 5 inches taller than on its legs on the ground. Its perfect height for me(Im 5’8″)Proseasy assemblylight, portableunder $75.00Comes with grease catch (uses old soup cans)ConsPaint peels easily and burns offHas gaps in lid and base where smoke escapesNon-removable insert to remove ashesSmoke box side opening doesn’t stay open unless open fully.I wil post photos later this afternoon

We had one in California. Left it with our niece n nephew. It is a small unit but deis the job well. The first one was perfect. The second one has a few issues but we would definitely purchase it again!
Jerry Kinder –
Save your money and buy a Weber kettle! It’ll do everything this piece of junk will do and more!
J Edward Neill –
The charcoal area just isn’t deep enough. Unless you want everything to be well-done, buy something bigger.
Roland35 –
We love it and for the price it was great. Easy and quick to assemble.
J J –
One must have a partner for assembly and upon completion the legs are not stable. The biggest flaw for temperature control is the air intake vent doesn’t remain open and I had to get creative to prop the side vent open to ensure the correct temperature. However, for the money I am satisfied with the smoker and plan to use the smoker more in the future.

Great grill not so great smoker.

good size for starter grillers

After a couple of uses has paint is already coming off, and things seem to be getting a little iffy but this is definitely a good starting point before deciding to make a bigger investment.

Nancy Penhallow –
gift for daughter and husband….they love it!
A_Llama –
It’s a good little smoker. Be sure to follow the directions and season it with oil before use. We keep it locked in a storage shed out of the elements, since it is prone to rust. We wanted something to last 2-3 years and this is a great tool for smoking and grilling too. You get what you pay for, and for this price, I think it was very sturdy. One complaint is that on the charcoal box, the little handle you use to control the vent gets red hot. How are you supposed to adjust it when you can’t touch it? I had to use my grilling gloves.
jessica w. –
I love it, it’s perfect for me!!!
capp –
Cost effective and does decent a job if you appreciate tending to the fire and temperature, my only negative opinion is the material. First day using it I did a 13# brisket and 5 hours into a constant 250-300 degree temp the paint and material started peeling and corroding.I even seasoned the whole thing for 8 hours the day before the brisket went in. Out of the box plenty of grease you should burn off before using.
phillip –
well worth the purchase price. Good BBQ grill.
Suzette B. –
This smoker was a very economical way to see if I had what it takes to be an outdoor cook.My family will not eat any other smoked meat. So yes. It works great. Easy to set up. Easy to use. And WOW the dishes are amazing.I use wood from my land and that’s it!
Jankmeister –
Just sold it for $40. Looks good, good quality and amazing value but its very hard to use. Virtually impossible to maintain heat. Got rid of it.
Sonia Jennings –
Love it, it’s a grill, hello. 🙂
So happy –
Grill was much smaller than I expected. Works fine.

Nice smoker, but smaller than I expected. Will still do the trick.

Love srilling on this little thing but not a smoker! Great for my girl and I. Had to redrill holes because brackets did not set straight and lid would not close. Still wouldn’t close so I just Man Handled it, twisted the darn lid so hard that the thing finally shut! WaLa finally a grill!
Deborah Gilliam –
I don’t know how I’ve lived this long and not used this grill. I absolutely love it much better than my old gas grill. If I had the time I would use it every day. It’s also a great product and i would highly recommended it if you love charbroiling and smoking.
Joshua Harless –
Growing up I remember Char-Broil being top of the line and among the best grills that you could buy. I’m not sure what happened here. I bought this thing because I really wanted an offset smoker to cook briskets with. The one and only time that I used this thing it became painfully obvious that this thing was not going to live up to the reputation that Char-Broil had in my mind. After starting the fire in the lower chamber (never letting the temp go over 300) the paint started to bubble on the outside of the barrel. By the time that I was finished cooking the brisket, over 1/4 of the paint on the lower barrel had bubbled and burned off. I am so disappointed with this product. I guess that the saying that “if it looks too good to be true it most likely is” holds here.
Sme –
CharBroil has always been above the bottom end for me, and actually, I usually opted for a lower price brand as I didn’t require the quality and didn’t want to spend the money for the CharBroil name. This smoker however could easily be the cheapest, poorest quality, defetive manufactured product I’ve ever purchased. Not just for a grill or smoker, for anything. Comes with the standard blister-pac of bolts and oversized holes in all the parts for assembly, which are needed as none of the parts match each other close enough that you would be able to get the bolts in them if they were to size. The top of the smoke chamber has threaded holes in it which didn’t match the holes in the bottom, so some of the screws were uninstallable and where it was bolted together there’s still gaps in the joint between the parts. I’ve always regarded the CharBroil name as a quality smoker/grill company, but this has definitely set the bottom expectation of any cheap imported junk I’ve ever purchased. Impressed CharBroil actually put their name on it.

Love this pit. Has come in handy for my small family. Does a good job for the size. And the price is great.
George J Wagner –
This is your entry level offset smoker. It was surprisingly easy to put together and provides what I consider an acceptable level of performance at my beginners level of smoker expertise. I’d buy it again and recommend it.
courtney –
Assemble would have be easier if it came with holes made for the lid had to make are own holes.

Well worth the money. I love this little smoker. I was worried and hesitant after seeing some reviews. I was mislead. This grill is perfect. I highly recommend

good price for a decent beginner smoker.

Great little BBQ thought it was way bigger! But I’m in a wheel chair and was able to put it together in an hour! I this the perfect height. It needs a rack or utensil hook rack …..Other than that it seems pretty sturdy. I got it super fast and a day before the estimated delivery day! Put it together BBQ some chicken! It was fantastic.

I guess you get what you pay for. I was really dissatisfied with this product. Bought it as a birthday present for my fiancé, and wish I had chosen something else. For starters, putting it together was a headache. It took two of us to do it (not really the issue) but the package was ripped open and all the pieces were scattered around the box, so we had to figure out what was what before we could even start. Once completed, we were less than impressed. The welds were flimsy, it wobbled badly (we tightened like crazy, and even took it apart twice and reassembled it to make sure it wasn’t our fault), and the lid didn’t fully close (again, went through the steps to be sure it wasn’t us). Temp gauge didn’t work at all, so luckily my fiance knows how to do it himself. During the first temp, two of the welds busted, and less than a month later during a smoke, two more broke. We’ve had to put fire bricks under the grate to hold it up. Three bolts went missing during the third use of it. Just all-around a badly designed product. I may have done better buying something off of Wish.
mom22 –
This was damaged when we received it. After the first use, the paint peeled off and it rusted. Not a great buy but luckily we didn’t spend much on it.

I live in a senior complex, have a great patio, this was perfect . It was easy to assemble, but does take two people. Just to steady it,and lift it. I highly recommend. My patio/balcony is on the second level, it is over 25feet long, and 10feet wide. I can easily walk around this.
Laurie Smith –
It’s what the boys wanted.
Alissa SandersAlissa Sanders –
It would have been awesome but it’s so beat up. A lot of dents, chipped paint, cracks. The box it came in was falling apart… it took a lot away from it tbh.
joseph savino –
1st smoker but have had many char-broil products over the years. Smoker more figuratively than factual. It leaked at every joint and seam while almost no smoke exited the chimney. 3 packs of jb weld later its working fine. Char-broil when hearing this immediately offered replacement parts and sent an accessory as an apology. Easy assembly instructions are provided and clear. Wish a recipe booklet or online was included. Do note any first time smoker users there is roughly a twenty 20 degree temperature difference from one side to the other of the main chamber. While that doesn’t seem much remember your loosing heat and smoke every time you have to open it up, then your starting the whole smoke and heat up process over again. There is a learning curve to smoking.
webeditor –
I’ve always like Char-broil products and never had and problems. This little smoker arrived quickly and was easy to put together. The material is not super heavy duty, but it does the job. The hinges on the lid are light weight and not really designed to take a lot of abuse, but you shouldn’t be opening the smoker often. Regardless of what most say, it is well built for the price. The big sticker that is on the front is absolutely no issue. rather than trying to peel it off cold, light a fire and get it up to about 200F, then sticker will peal right off.The smoker does not leak as bad as some claim. Mine drew from the air inlet all the way to the stove pipe with no measurable leaks through the entire smoker.Once it’s seasoned it will tighten up. I will say that the welds are pretty lame, but should hold for the “life” of this unit. If I store it indoors and get 3 to 5 years out of it, I’ll be happy. I give it 5 stars based mostly on the value and my personal experience that it does work well.
Calla Scott –
Easy to assemble. Doesn’t fully seal though. Good for what it is though!

Very nice

My dad loves his new grill! No complaints.
Chemekia washington –
Well worth the money
Joel Rosales –
This thing was a good start to BBQ-ing. But I already know that I’m going to have to upgrade soon. It works fine, but the fit and finish is definitely cheap. The included grill thermometer broke literally the first time I used it. And there’s paint flaking off the bottom of the grill, on the underside. It’s clearly heat related, as it’s on the side I use as the hot side for searing and it’s not happening on the side I use for the ambient non-searing temps. But I haven’t used the grill different than any other grill on the planet, and in fact followed meticulously youtube videos on how to light coal, etcI bought the insurance for it, so I’ll see if they can help out with it.
Keith –
Barrel came dented so lid doesn’t close all the way making my fire burn quicker
Keri Ross –
While this did make some really delicious meats, the smoker box is really to small . Basically you have to have another fire going and just load the coals in the smoker box to get the temperature accurate for smoking.. Also, Due to the small size you have to clean the ashes out continuously while smoking your meats.. So using this thing is a full time job.. You have to babysit it every second… So if you are smoking a brisket .. plan to be at the smokers side for the entire length of the smoke.
cheryl –
great little first smoker

This is ok. But not much more than that. First time using it the paint peeled off! It’s a good starter smoker. Get your technique down and then go to a better one.
Luke D Holt –
Gave this as a gift and my friends loved it.
Valeria –
Love the grill on time for the winter cook out Love it would recommend to this grill to barbeque or grille rs serious grill for cookers
robert –
fun little smoker! the firebox will rot away from the smoke box (probably the only serious ‘con’). As can be imagined, it’s small so not a lot can be cooked at a time & temp varies quite a bit from hot to cold side. when the firebox started to rust out, it because an excellent charcoal grill (briquettes in the bottom of the smoke chamber)
Lerita BradyLerita Brady –
Fast shipping, easy to assemble and looks great. A tab smaller than most grills but perfect for my small family.
mtfreaky –
I know you get what you pay for I knew a offset smoker/grill under 100 wasn’t gonna be that great but come on I figure since it was a name brand it would be ok nope its ok for grilling the temp gauge works decent but I have had mine for bout 4 months used it as a grill 3 times used it to smoke about 5 times already its rusting and its been in my garage when not in use and when you are smoking theres coutless gaps where smoke is escaping when the smoker box is in use and warms up its very difficult to keep the side air vent to stay where you want it keeps wanting to close it will probably only last to spring then it will probably be a pile of rust
CT –
nice smoker husband likes it
Jill Hendrix –
It’s alright, great for a small family but nowhere big enough for when you are grilling for more than 3 or 4 people and even then it can be a challenge. The hardest challenge I’ve had with this grill is getting a desired temperature control. It’s smaller so it’s real easy to get it to hot for things like chicken quarters, smoked sausages, the kind of stuff you want to slow cook for awhile. Once you get the hang of that it’s not a bad little grill. It’s pretty easy to assemble, took me about 45 minutes taking my time to make sure I didn’t put anything on backwards or upside down. If your just someone like me that likes to grill sometimes and not one of those people who have rub recipes from like 3 generations ago this is fine, if you take your grilling seriously and really into it probably better off spending a few bucks for something a little bigger and a little up market.
judygraham –
Excellent grill for the price. Would buy it again! Wasn’t complicated to put together.
John larance –
This is a nice little BBQ. If you’re for two or four people. Its just like its big brother but smaller. You have to put it together. I did it by myself. I’d say if you can get help get it.I used to own the bigger one. This smaller one does the Job.
C –
It has smoke leaks I mean it gets the job done I still use it for 14 hour briskets and pork buts I just wish I spent the extra money for a bigger one.
JennAJennA –
My husband loved this for fathers day. He loves to grill and smoke and ours was really old. The only problem he found was the seal was not quite flush and allowed alot of smoke/heat to roll out the sides.

I was able to put it together myself in an hour and a half, and used it immediately. Super value!!

Love my new Char- Broil Smoker !!!!!!

I’ve only used it once so far, but it sure seems adequate for me, who is just starting out smoking. Easy to put together and seems sturdy enough. I am very satisfied with it.

Didn’t like that it had so many parts but it was easy to put together
bookloverbwr –
It is just the right size for my little family. It works well and cooks thoroughly.

We grilled and smoked and love it. One suggestion is to cover the bottom with foil to catch ashes and an easier clean up. Definitely a good purchase.
Eric J –
Brother-in-law smokes everything on it. Perfect for him and my sister! You can’t beat the price either, if your looking for a small charcoal smoker, this is it.
DB –
This is a decent grill for the price. My only complaint is that is takes quite awhile to heat up and you do have to work to maintain the heat. I’ve hosted a few barbecues with it so far and it cooks a surprising amount of food and the food tastes great coming out! It’s a bit more work than a gas grill, but if you’re prepared for that, it is a great product.
Paula Johnson –
Don’t know about the other stuff (ease of use, temperature control) but this was a BEAST to put together. Its a LOT smaller than it looks. I have NO idea what fits in that small smoker but I will figure it out. 2 small slabs (babybacks) will fit. But if you’re a “griller” DO NOT get this grill. Its like the easy bake oven of grills.
Leah Lovley –
Smoker box rusted after first use. Always stored inside. They used nylon lock nuts where there is heat, so every screw is loose after first couple uses.
Kailyn Underwood –
We purchased used and are very happy! We love it and use it all the time. The box did come with some kind of weird wet film on it and it was on some of the pieces but we just wiped it off.

Great small grill with a smoker. Size is big enough for feeding 3 or 4 at a time. Pretty good lil smoker

good size and cooks amazingly the price is awesome!!
Ashley Clark –
Melted after first use. Temp never got above 400 and it still melted and is now rusted.
Stephen S. Gerard –
Not easy to assemble. But once assembled, it does the job well for the price, and is easy to use.
Doug Freeman –
Very good smoker for small family. One rack of ribs, and couple pork loins, fit perfectly. Also smoked a whole chicken, and turned out well.
Sarah Estrada –
Smaller than expected. Found out it’s measures from end to end and not just cooking surface. Other than that it’ll get me thru camping season
cody smart –
Pretty good to start smoking, easily big for some decent smoked meats. Cleaning out the side barrel can be a pain without a small scoop. But very easy to assemble and perfect for starter/family smoker
Joseph M. Moran –
Used it, just right size for two. Gr8 for smoking or grilling. Try it if you want to option of doing both.
Charles –
Awesome grill, easy to put together and very sturdy. My only issue is that it was a little smaller than I expected.
Kawagoe –
Good little smoker
AustinAustin –
I like it! You get what you pay for, but this little guy is great for its price! It’s big enough to smoke multiple pieces of meat yet small enough that it’s fairly easy to regulate temperature. Being that it IS small, if the has a spike or dip it’s fairly easy to adjust the baffles and quickly get the temp back in range. The thermometer is junk. Way off.I ordered and would recommend self adhesive high temp grill/smoker gasket. You can get a 15 foot roll on Amazon fairly inexpensive and I expect it will help with some of the leak that happens due to the lids not creating a great seal as well as the break in seal where your digital thermometer probe wires go in (if you’re using one).Assembly was fairly easy, I was able to assemble it alone after a long “Sunday funday” if you know what I mean.I would recommend coupling this smoker with a digital Bluetooth thermometer that has multiple probes so you can keep an eye on both meat Temp and grill Temp. I bought the igrill 2 and like it!Happy smoking!

LOVE IT

The airflow isn’t great and charcoal does not last very long. I have only used it 4 or 5 times but at least the thermometer in the lid is pretty reliable

Awesome BBQ pit for the price with a smoker. Wife and kids assembled it.

Some of the screws and peices were broken.

Its a decent starter smoker. Yes its cheaply made, but look at other grills with an offset smoker. its not uncommon to pay 500 or more. I read the reviews about paint chipping and bad leaking. So i went and bought high temp paint and high temp silicon. I used the silicone as a gasket between the smoker and grill and also as a gasket when i put the two halves of the smoker together. No paint problems. Assembled by myself no problem, took about and hour or so. Overall i think its a decent starter smoker for the money.

Most of the carriage was missing.

Would work for smoking but it’s so small that the coles are to close to the food.
Susan S –
Great item my husband loves it. It arrived very quickly. It arrived by USPS instead of UPS we were a little surprised.
densil huffman –
package was ok but had to do some cold blacksmith work on firebox to get put togather
cindy crawford –
Easy to put together and to use. Great for beginners!
Dee Kay –
I assembled it myself with no one to help and it was a breeze. I bought this as a gift for my brother therefore I don’t know how it’ll work during grilling. I will ask him to let me know but if you’re worried about look, sturdy material, and size: look no more! It’s awesome! It’s bigger than I expected and it’s heavy, great material. Would totally recommend this grill. Now let’s see how well it works!
rosie c. –
Works great, better than a gar grill
Tracey A McCabe –
Great little grill/smoker. Relatively easy to put together.
Milagros Monique Ortiz –
Ok not bad for the price but it’s small I give u that it did how ever took the paint off on the bottom which that’s ok I just hope it don’t get too hot and burn metal overall good for the price which btw should it cheaper
JL27 –
Great starter smoker. The only issue is it doesn’t come with a drip can (hook is supplied). Great price to get started smoking.
Melanie –
The smoker works great so far. I think it will be great to use for learning the techniques. I did read the reviews about the smoker being small. However, it’s so much smaller than expected. My husband says he won’t win any manliest grill awards and I call it his Barbie Smoker…He’s thinking of painting it pink.
Travis Askew –
This smoker was easy to assemble. I was kinda disappointed about the small size of it but I will make it work on the count that I have another smoker already. Looks like I can smoke more at once
Steve –
perfect size smoker for two. Once I assembled it, took about 45 minutes. She fired it up. we have smoked pork and beef and salmon on it so far. It works very will.
nubia –
Bought as Christmas gift for boyfriend. Item arrived in. Very heavy box to move by self and gift wrap. But quality of item is great.
lashelle turner –
This is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon, I was absolutely satisfied when the product came, I was expecting a cheaply made, very small grill for the price, but it was the complete opposite. The setup was quick and easy, I love the smoker on the side and it is big enough to grill a whole slab of ribs at one time without having to cut it or fight to fit it all on the grill.
mobri –
Bought as a Christmas gift for my husband…came with no hardware kit. And one of the leg pieces were cracked. Contacted Charbroil, they sent a hardware package but it took about a week and a half to get here. It’s not big at all, you could fit about a full rack of ribs and thats all. It’s very flimsy and just pretty jank, I would have expected more from the Charbroil brand. I would have sent it back if I had paid the full price for it, which was $199.00…..sooo not worth that…at all!
Jim –
Received it as a gift. I have enjoyed using it as a grill and smoker. Works great.
Amazon Customer –
Great for the price. It was not big as I thought but definitely works for a small family. If you are tall like me….go with another option.
Will B. –
This might work as a good grill but sucks as a smoker. The seals are bad and smoke comes out from everywhere. I would return it if I felt like taking it apart and boxing it up. I’ll just use it as a second grill.
Ms EllieMs Ellie –
I just got mine a few days ago and was procrastinating on putting it together so I waited until now, and I know I needed a second hand but I went solo on this on. The instructions where very good it had great illustrations and I was able to put it together in 2 hours, solo with a full set of long manicured nails, never broke or chipped a nail, so it is easy set up it’s not very big but I didn’t want a huge grill, not competing in barbecue contest. I love this grill/smoker, the price was more than a great deal. I will get another one for one of my family members as a gift.
william hessenauer –
this is an amazing value.well built, easy to assemble, heavy gauge steel. It’s perfect for up to 6 people, depending on what your cooking or smoking. For the money,I would recommend it to anyone.
docoroc –
worth the money, but firebox needs constant attention, as quite small.
ss4sithlord –
I bought this grill expecting it to be fairly thin and flimsy for the price but figured I could still get some good use out of it. I was quite impressed to see how sturdily it was built. The parts are thicker than I expected, not wrought iron thick but not like pressed aluminum either. Some other reviews I`ve seen state that the paint chipped off the smoker box when they cured it, but if you oil it well, start with a small fire, and slowly increase the heat as per instructions I don`t think you should have any problems. Mine cured nicely and holds heat well. I cured it with charcoal lit by torch and wood chips rather than wood just to have a more controlled heat for the curing. The only manufacturing issues I have with it are the pins for the wheels and lid are around paper clip thickness (less actually) and seem kind of weak, and the two halves of the smoker box and grill did not align perfectly which made assembling the smoker box the most frustrating part but I did`nt have to take any time-outs lol. The only other issue I had was why anyone would put a company sticker on the lid of the grill! Peeling that off nearly made me take a time-out but I persevered. All said and done the assembly went well, and it functions like a champ. I would say for the money you will not find a better one.
Charlae –
Smaller than we expected, but works well. The finish did rust and peel off on the smaller door from the high heat after the first use. But good little smoker for the price.
Tele’ –
It is small and has some areas it can improve as far as the welds and secureness. It does let out smoke quite a bit making you pay alot more attention to the fire but overall it does the job. The manufacturer could improve this product and make it even more popular.
SanaSana –
This is looking ok but it’s used
Wendy Miller –
Love this grill. However, it seems a little smaller that I thought. Very easy assembly, although I watched my son put it together. 1 complaint is that the door should gave springs to keep from toggling backwards. Door doesn’t completely close now.
Amazon Customer –
Easy to assemble on time delivery
frances crook –
Great price. The only problem I can for see is that you have to put it together yourself. Ready to grill.
B. Barber –
great smoker. my man was surprised that i had it put together when we gifted it to him. easy to assemble. smokes wonderfully. highly recommend.
Chris Bowen –
Overall lives up to all my expectations in a smoker. Needed a few gaps sealed shut to keep a lot of the smoke in the chamber but otherwise it’s a great first time smokers option.
EBONY HENDRICKSEBONY HENDRICKS –
I’m still trying to figure out how to keep the heat and smoke consistently burning. I am a rookie but love experimenting and trying new things..ultimately I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday buuttt, I just say that so I can play with it more lol But the assembly was easy enough minus my patience. I love this thing though. So far I’ve smoker 2 whole salmon filets and they were amazing.
Philip L. –
Very good price and well built love it

Giving this one star due to the fact that I received used grill on new grill listing. On top of that, all are greasy and smelly. See pics for grease. even the wrapper is soaked with grease. DISGUSTING!!Returning the grill and will see if the replacement grill works better.UPDATE: Received a replacement grill and it is also greased from the factory. This new one is not as greasy as the other one tho. Updating the rating to 2 stars for the misunderstanding. Will update again once I get a chance to test it. So keep in mind, the grill is coming greased from the factory, for some reason. Thanks!
Marie –
I love it. Easy assembling easy to cook on and clean. You can use at home or away from home
ryan –
This grill is almost perfect. The only thing it is missing is a sliding bottom to easily remove the leftover ash after cooking.
Calvin Singleton –
Purchased item for a good price. Have not used it yet, waiting on Spring to fire it up.

This smoker took a long time to assemble. Directions were sparse. However, once it was assembled, it seems to be sturdy. I’ve had food made with this exact smoker…and it does a good job. Will be trying it out this weekend.
Amazon Customer –
I just love it. Perfect size got a one person.
Ashlie Maddox –
My fiancé really like it! We have used it A LOT! He put it together in our kitchen (which is small) without difficulty! We have really enjoyed this purchase!

it is great my son loves it
Amazon Customer –
A small dent in the top and a small bend in the front but all minor stuff compared to the price
Samantha –
Very easy to assemble bigger than expected

My husband loves it and our food tastes amazing

Assembling the grill at the moment. There are scratches on the legs as well as rusting spots on the legs and body of the grill. We are disappointed in that and the fact that we didn’t notice before we started assembling it. The inside of the grill itself is smaller than my fiancé and I imagined. Very narrow compared to your average grill. We will see how it works out this weekend. If you can afford to spend more on a smoker/grill combo I would recommend it.

First time smoking with the new smoker. I had seasoned it properly the weekend prior with no issues. Stacked my charcoal in a pyramid and started it. An hour later the paint had melted off the offset. Would have been 1 star but the heat maintained itself well and cooked the food but I’m still pretty mad that my smoker is ruined the first time using it.
Richard McMasters –
Easy to put together, smokes and slow cooks really well…greater starter kit
Kenneth R. Mayberry –
This is perfect if you are making something small. The advertisement pictures show a couple racks of ribs and some other stuff. Well best you can get on this smoker is one rack of pork ribs. I’ve had several issues with the temperature staying steady due to heat escaping through the sides . Pay attention to the measurements because it is very tiny but gets the job done.
Michael G –
excellent experience all around
MandiGail –
The grill cooks great! The assembly, however, was a bit difficult because all of the holes did not line up and the top does not fully close.
Thomas W. –
Good if you only want to cook one rack of ribs.
Siavosh asgari –
The product was very easy to assembly. It works great as a smoker. However, there is no ash tray, so you can’t clean the charcoal ashes!! I had my first barbecue, so lets see how it holds up. If something pops up, I will update my review
Bonnie M –
little smoker! Very easy to put together.simple instructions for putting it together in very little time.love the split grill..

The heat bubbled up the paint.

Used the smoker 1 time and this is what happened. Other than this problem and the smoke stack not having an exact seal the lid does not close completly
nekita dillard –
When buying the smoker/grill I thought I would love the item. The item is ok. Received the item with grease on the racks. A lot of other reviews said the same thing. I am not accustomed to this style of smoker/grill so my review could be biased. This was not what I was looking for .
Dee –
Easy to use, like the smoked flavor
Andrew –
Nice beginner or single family model. First round came out great!
Kyle N. –
I recieved this smoker on the 30th of January and used it on the 1st of February. For that first use it was awesome. Yes it leaked smoke and yes it was hard to get the temp reading right and grill level but I also only paid $70 for it with free shipping so I was not looking for the best of the best. I like it for what it is.
Linda Watts –
Love this grill!! Perfect for apartment!

First, I don’t buy a $70 smoker grill and expect to get a $600 Weber. That said, this grill is sturdier than I expected. I’ve had more expensive grills that were significantly flimsier. The grill is also much tighter than I expected. No, it is nowhere near airtight. But, it is not a smoker; it is a smoker grill. Many reviews suggest the writer doesn’t know there is a difference. The side firebox works great to smoke food with indirect heat and the grill holds temperature fairly well. By that, I mean heat loss occurs steadily, but somewhat quickly, as the fuel source burns down. This is a small grill, which, depending on your needs, is a plus or minus. It is great for 1 – 4 people. It just fit 2 racks of uncooked pork ribs, or 8 large hamburgers. The one big negative is the thermometer. While I have never had a grill which had an accurate built-in thermometer – including Webers – this one is almost useless. After 6 hours of smoking, keeping track of the temperature by the grill’s thermometer, the ribs were still mostly uncooked. I tested the thermometer by hanging a remote control grilling thermometer’s probe down the chimney so that it was suspended in the cooking chamber. I know this thermometer to be accurate and it recorded temperatures as much as 100 degrees below the temperature shown on the grill’s thermometer. Despite its temperature probe, I suspect the grill’s thermometer is picking up a lot of heat from the lid itself. So, to sum it up, it’s no gold standard grill, but it is better than the price would suggest. It’s small, it smokes great, but DON’T rely on its thermometer!

The smoker is great, fresh out the box but after smoking with it two times the paint started pealing on the hot box. But all together its a great sale for the price
Tacy Garrels –
Was easy to assemble and reasonably priced. If you need to move it around it does have wheels which makes it easier. It is very light weight. Grill and Smoker in one which is really nice to have. Easy to tear down and clean when needed.
Kera –
We were looking for a smoker for some time, and this one has checked the boxes, other than for holding heat for a while. We’ve smoke ribs, bbq’d some steaks, hot dogs, and burgers. The food comes out tasting delicious! I highly recommend this grill to those who are on a budget. I’ve always been a fan of Char-Broil, and I will continue to be one.The size on this grill is perfect for 6-8 people.
Rohan –
very good
Mike Hamilton –
Basically junk. Air gaps everywhere. Smoke stack welds don’t allow it to flush up with top without modifying. Everything just spot welded. I should’ve known better for the price.
JPC –
Easy to assemble. Easy to use. Thermometer easy to read. Easy to season. Definitely recommend seasoning. When I seasoned it, it gave off a strong chemical smell that I wouldn’t want in my food the first time I used it. Smoked a roast after I seasoned it, and the smell/taste were gone and not in the food.

Well my grill is bent in places it’s not suppose to be bent in. The lid wouldn’t shut properly and my Boyfriend had to hammer the lid on. The drill holes aren’t lined up right, but we made it work.

It cooked well a little smaller then I thought it would be

After reading other reviews I decide on this grill. Assembly was easy enough. Seasoned it as instructed then decided to give it a whirl and smoke some chicken wings. Temp control was easier than I thought it would be. With chimney control and fire box damper. My biggest issue was getting the charcoal lit. It worked perfectly only issue was paint from smoker damper started to reel. It’s only the 1st use but so far so good the wings turned out great
Roger Duffee –
Reason why im marking it 3 stars is because it does leak smoke really badly at the firepit end. Since I’am a welder it doesnt matter for me because I welded it up and made it so it doesnt leak any smoke. But it does come to temperature and holds it very well without fixing the issues. Great grill can’t wait to use it next weekend for the bbq!
jinky rose alba –
It turned out to be one of the best I’ve made.It was easy to assemble with thorough instruction.I used it right away and everybody had a good time.

Great smoker/grill. The smoker was boxed perfect and well protected. All the parts were in perfect condition. Assembly was fast and easy. Great looking smoker, and I’m very satisfied. I would recommend to a friend!
Spiffai –
There were missing parts which lead me to spending more money at a hardware store. The instructions were incorrect and misleading. After construction, the entire grill is very wobbly and isn’t secure.
Roberto Peralta –
love it
Colleen Caron –
Cheap but fantastic, small enough for our patio and delivers great flavor as a smoker, the only complaint is the paint on the smoker unit flaked off within the first 5 min of use at lower temps but the low price made up for the flaking paint
Mayvand Khaliq –
Good, small takes a long time to build it.

Smaller than expected but great price. Really enjoy using the product. Would buy another larger grill for any events in the future

My husband gave this to me for Christmas. It came on time with no damage. Well packaged. I made ribs in it for the first time and it did an amazing job. It is small, I was able to get one good sized slab of ribs on it. I was just big enough to fit ribs for 5 people.
Daniel –
Char-broil should be ashamed with this product. Mine arrived with a warped and damaged shell, making it so that smoke does not stay inside the smoker and just leaks out around the hinges.I ran a test by placing 5 chicken breast in a row across. They smoked for 2 hours. The first that was closest to the vent hole was 170 degrees, the 2nd was 120…down to the 5th which was a mere 104 degrees. It’s incredibly inconsistent heat to the point of not being able to actually cook anything. Glad I tested it with something recoverable like chicken and did not wasted a nice cut of meat. I’d suggest throwing in an extra $50 and switching to a more reliable brand. Also: I did reach out to Char-Broil for parts. Terrible service, inconsistent requests. Very disappointed. Customer lost for life.

Hard to clean if you are strong you can manage
John F. Murray –
Great little smoker for the price.
Marquelle –
A lot smaller than we expected. Not big enough to stand up a beer can chicken. Hard to keep the heat regulated. Works okay for a small smoker, but not what we expected.
Amazon Customer –
Great starter smoker, some discororation to the smoke box but still a great smoker. Not much room but i would reccomend the deluxe which i will be upgrading to soon.
Janice McClure –
Nice smoker/grill for the price. Nice for small group. 3 hours to assemble it. Have only used the charcoal portion for doing spare ribs which turned out great.
Amazon Customer –
it works great for the two of us.

I liked this grill so much I bought it for the second time. Good with grilling and Smoking….
CaliCruiser –
A great starter smoker for the money. I had used a Weber previously for indirect cooking/smoking but this has been an excellent addition for being a first-timer learning smoking techniques. Smoke is drawn very well over meat/poultry/fish. Fire box is adequate for smoking about 2hrs before needing replenishing. The smoker is also light and easy to store and maneuver.

Great

It’s about right for the price. It will get the job done well but its not high end by any means.
Renae Hux –
Small enough to cook for 2 but I was able to fit 9 burger patties on it… I love it
Tina Edwards –
Too small looks like a toy and not a lot of room on it I suggest using it for hot dogs, hamburgers or small things it took me all day to grill for the holiday And it did have a charcoal ash tray
